Sensitizing Structure in Epoxy Resin
An instance of glue dermatitis was traced to epoxy resin. The hardener used was phthalic anhydride. Samples were obtained from the manufacturer (Ciba) in order to ascertain the sensitizing component. It was recommended that patch test be applied in a one per cent concentration in olive oil. The formula and results of testing appear in the Table.

Peptide Display Directed Assembly of Biopolymer Core–Silica Shell Particles
Bacterial cells are engineered to produce biopolyester particles displaying peptides mediating growth of silica. Peptide‐coated biopolyester particles are treated with silica precursors and silica shell formation is studied. Transmission electron microscopy shows silica‐coated BPs which are formed after the silicification treatment. Characterization of

High char imide-modified epoxy matrix resins [PDF]
The synthesis of a class of bis(imide-amine) curing agents for epoxy matrix resins is discussed. Glass transition temperatures and char yield data of an epoxy cured with various bis(imide-amines) are presented.

Metal (2) 4,4',4",4'" phthalocyanine tetraamines as curing agents for epoxy resins [PDF]
Metal, preferably divalent copper, cobalt or nickel, phthalocyanine tetraamines are used as curing agents for epoxides. The resulting copolymers have high thermal and chemical resistance and are homogeneous. They are useful as binders for laminates, e.g.,

A mechanically active OsteoChondral Unit (OCU)‐on‐Chip platform mimicking the OCU's functional anatomy and the strain gradient across the osteochondral interface is presented. Upon compartment‐specific hyperphysiological compression, the model replicates mechanisms observed in osteoarthritis (OA) progression, such as calcium crystal accumulation ...

Toughening reinforced epoxy composites with brominated polymeric additives [PDF]
Cured polyfunctional epoxy resins including tris(hydroxyphenyl)methane triglycidyl ether are toughened by addition of polybrominated polymeric additives having an EE below 1500 to the pre-cure composition.
