Externally validated risk prediction models for gestational diabetes mellitus: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 10, Page 1918-1931, October 2026.
A systematic review of 33 gestational diabetes risk prediction models found fair discrimination but significant methodological weaknesses. With 69% of studies at high risk of bias, future research must adopt rigorous, scalable validation strategies to enhance clinical utility.

Growth and Variation in Fallow Deer (Dama dama L.) From Two Contrasting Habitats in Southern Britain

open access: yesActa Zoologica, Volume 107, Issue 4, Page 385-408, October 2026.

Challenges in Diagnosing Central Adrenal Insufficiency in Children: Cortisol‐Stimulating Tests are Safe and Often Required

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, Volume 105, Issue 4, Page 408-415, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction The accuracy and safety of cortisol‐stimulating tests (CSTs) for assessing hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis integrity, including the diagnosis of central adrenal insufficiency (CAI), in children remain uncertain. Although these tests can simultaneously evaluate cortisol and growth hormone secretion, the present study ...

Serum Copeptin Rises After Tolvaptan for Hyponatraemia, but Does Not Predict Risk of Rapid Sodium Rise: Pre‐Specified Secondary Analysis of the TVFR Trial

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, Volume 105, Issue 4, Page 514-518, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Hyponatraemia is a common electrolyte disorder often driven by excess arginine vasopressin (AVP). Copeptin is a stable surrogate marker co‐secreted with AVP. It is unclear whether treatment of hyponatraemia with tolvaptan, an AVP‐V2 receptor antagonist, impacts copeptin.

Spatial productivity disparities in Great Britain

open access: yesEconomica, Volume 93, Issue 372, Page 1533-1570, October 2026.
We study productivity disparities across metropolitan and non‐metropolitan areas in Great Britain. Spatial disparities in productivity are large and persistent. Using a development accounting framework, we show that differences in area size and in the spatial distribution of human and business capital are key explanatory factors.

State of the “Art” in Freezing of Gait: Drawing on Perspectives of Individuals With Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 64, Issue 7, October 2026.
Patient‐created drawings reveal that freezing of gait in Parkinson's disease is more than a motor block: an embodied experience of captured feet, chaos, emotional explosion, and fear of falling. The artworks also depict therapeutic release and joy when movement returns, highlighting how artistic expression can enrich clinician–patient communication and
