Within the past dozen years, the spectrum of diseases that has been associated with the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has increased. Among the clinical conditions that have provoked the most interest are those in which EBV infection progresses far beyond that normally observed in the course of infectious mononucleosis.

[Persistent Epstein-Barr virus infection].
