Identification and molecular phylogeny of Epulorhiza isolates from tropical orchids

open access: yesMycological Research, 2003
24 isolates of Epulorhiza were obtained from the roots and protocorms of orchids in Singapore. Two groups were distinguished based on morphological and cultural characteristics. Group 1 comprised 20 isolates which were identified as E. repens, while those in group 2 were identified as E. calendulina-like Rhizoctonia. The ITS-5.8S rDNA sequence identity

Epulorhiza inquilina sp. nov. from Platanthera (Orchidaceae) and a key to Epulorhiza species

open access: yesMycotaxon, 1997
Abstract: Epulorhiza inquilina sp. nov. is described from the mycorrhizas of mature plants of Platanthera clavellata, P. cristata and P. integrilabia, coexisting terrestrial orchids native to bogs in the southern Appalachians. The new taxon was isolated consistently and exclusively from these orchid taxa over a seven-year period.

Ceratorhiza pernacatena and Epulorhiza calendulina spp.nov.: mycorrhizal fungi of terrestrial orchids

Canadian Journal of Botany, 1995
Two new species of fungi mycorrhizal with terrestrial orchids native to the Canadian prairies are described and illustrated. Ceratorhiza pernacatena sp.nov., from mycorrhizas of Platanthera praeclara, produces globose monilioid cells linked by narrow, tubular, connections that contain the septum between adjacent cells. Hyphae are binucleate, 5–7 μm in
