Using Patient‐Reported Outcomes in Two Program Examples Measuring Health Status in Primary Care: An Observational Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports
Background and Aims Patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs) are increasingly used in primary care practices; however, the broad characteristics of this population pose unique challenges. Generic PROMs (e.g., EQ‐5D‐5L) measure general health status from

Sensitivity and responsiveness of the EQ-5D-3L in patients with uncontrolled focal seizures: an analysis of Phase III trials of adjunctive brivaracetam. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
PURPOSE: Preference-based measures are required to measure the impact of interventions for cost-effectiveness analysis. This study assessed the psychometric performance of the EQ-5D-3L in adults with uncontrolled focal (partial-onset) seizures.

Comparing the psychometric properties of the EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-5L descriptive systems and utilities in atopic dermatitis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Health Economics, 2022
Background Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common chronic inflammatory skin disorder affecting up to 10% of adults. The EQ-5D is the most commonly used generic preference-accompanied measure to generate quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) for economic ...

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Psychometric validation of the EuroQoL 5-Dimension 5-Level (EQ-5D-5L) in Chinese patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Scoliosis is a common spinal deformity that occurs often during adolescence. Previous studies suggested that adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients can have various aspects of their lives being affected, due to disease presentation ...

EQ-5D-5L reference values for the German general elderly population

open access: yesHealth and Quality of Life Outcomes, 2021
Background Reference values are a helpful tool to facilitate comparisons of sampled values against a specified reference population. The aim is to describe the health profile and to provide visual analogue scale (EQ VAS) and utility reference values for ...

General population reference values for 3-level EQ-5D (EQ-5D-3L) questionnaire in Poland [PDF]

open access: yesPolish Archives of Internal Medicine, 2015
A Polish EQ-5D normative study published in 2010 was conducted in 2008 as a pilot study. The group of respondents was relatively small and had limited representativeness. The aim of the study was to derive population norms for the 3-level EQ-5D (EQ-5D-3L) questionnaire in Poland using a large, representative sample.Stratified random sampling was used. A

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Use of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in primary care-based mental health programming: an environmental scan of Alberta, Canada

open access: yesBMC Primary Care
Background Many Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in Alberta collect Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) to support patient-centered care. However, there is limited knowledge on what tools are currently being administered across PCNs and how the data is
