Validity and responsiveness of the EQ-5D in assessing and valuing health status in patients with anxiety disorders

open access: yesHealth and Quality of Life Outcomes, 2010
Background The EQ-5D is a generic questionnaire which generates a health profile as well as index scores for health-related quality of life that may be used in cost-utility analysis.

Where’s WALY? : A proof of concept study of the ‘wellbeing adjusted life year’ using secondary analysis of cross-sectional survey data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background The Quality-Adjusted Life Year (QALY) is a measure that combines life extension and health improvement in a single score, reflecting preferences around different types of health gain.

Scalable Polyelectrolyte Complex‐Based Sorbent With Hourly Sorption−Desorption Cycles for Multicyclic Atmospheric Water Harvesting in Arid Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polyelectrolyte complex‐based sorbent is produced by scalable, environmentally benign aqueous phase inversion. Its porous, LiCl‐ and GO‐integrated architecture enables hourly adsorption−desorption cycles at low relative humidity (RH < 30%). A large‐scale prototype achieves multicyclic, solar‐driven atmospheric water harvesting of 1.37 L kg−1 day−1 ...

Regiorandom Polythiophenes for Fully Stretchable Electrochemical Transistors and Logic Circuits

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Regiorandom (RRa) polythiophenes, once regarded as unsuitable for electronics, exhibit exceptional switching performance via volumetric electrochemical doping. Optimized RRa‐based organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) achieve a high on/off ratio (≈104), stable operation under 200% strain, and enable fully stretchable logic gates, demonstrating ...

Health-related quality of life in diabetes: The associations of complications with EQ-5D scores

open access: yesHealth and Quality of Life Outcomes, 2010
Background The aim of this study was to describe how diabetes complications influence the health-related quality of life of individuals with diabetes using the individual EQ-5D dimensions and the EQ-5D index.

The relationship between EQ-5D, HAQ and pain in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: further validation and development of the limited dependent variable, mixture model approach [PDF]

open access: yes
Objective To provide robust estimates of EQ-5D as a function of the Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) and pain in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Method Repeated observations of patients diagnosed with RA in a US observational cohort (

Temperature‐Modulated Threshold Response in a Volatile Memristor: Toward a Biomimetic Polymodal Nociceptive System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an artificial polymodal nociceptor whose firing threshold is actively modulated by temperature. A volatile TiN/TiOx/ZnO/TiOx/ITO memristor shows interfacial ion–driven resistive switching and membrane‐potential‐like dynamics, enabling temperature‐dependent nociceptive behavior.

Predicting preference-based utility values using partial proportional odds models. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: The majority of analyses on utility data have used ordinary least square (OLS) regressions to explore potential relationships. The aim of this paper is to explore the benefits of response mapping onto health dimension profiles to generate ...

Valuation of the EQ-5D-5L in Taiwan

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2018
To date, a value set for the EQ-5D-5L based on the health state preferences of the general Taiwanese population has not been available. This study aimed to develop a Taiwanese value set for EQ-5D-5L to facilitate health technology assessment for medical products and services. An international standardized protocol for EQ-5D-5L valuation studies ...
