Multicenter external quality assessment program for PCR detection of Mycobacterium ulcerans in clinical and environmental specimens.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
BackgroundMycobacterium ulcerans is the causative agent of Buruli ulcer (BU), a necrotizing disease of the skin, soft tissue and bone. PCR is increasingly used in the diagnosis of BU and in research on the mode of transmission and environmental reservoir

Different Analytical Modes on Automatic Hematology Analyzers for Testing Quality Control Materials and Commutability Assessment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Hematological disorders, critical for diagnosis, and monitoring, rely on accurate complete blood count results from automated analyzers, the reliability of which depends on robust quality control (QC). However, the ability of commutability of commercial hematology QC materials (HQCM) to behave like patient samples across different

Testing for Non‐Severe Heritable Platelet Function Disorders

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Heritable platelet function disorders (HPFD) are a diverse group of bleeding disorders characterised by a primary qualitative defect in platelet function rather than platelet number. HPFD may be broadly categorised according to the severity of bleeding, with Glanzmann thrombasthenia and Bernard Soulier syndrome classically considered severe ...

Bioatividade da Cabralea canjerana (Vell.) Mart.

QTL Mapping of Several Seed Quality Traits in the DH Population NPZ06 × NPZ09 (Brassica napus L.) for Marker‐Assisted Selection

open access: yesPlant Breeding, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Enhancing nutritional quality of oilseed rape requires deeper insight into the genetic control of seed quality traits. This study analysed the effect of varying soil phosphorus (P) levels on seed quality traits in the hybrid cultivar Architect. NIRS and laboratory methods were used to quantify total seed P and phytic acid (IP6) content.

Molecular and Serological Screening of West Nile and Usutu Virus in Birds and Humans: A Sentinel Study in Finland

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
We developed sensitive real‐time PCR assays for West Nile virus and Usutu virus to screen bird and human samples in Finland. Although no positive samples were detected, active migratory flyways and recent cases in neighbouring countries highlight the risk of future introduction and the need for continued surveillance.

Therapeutic drug monitoring of antimicrobials in a paediatric setting: A retrospective single‐centre study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 8, Page 2723-2740, August 2026.
Aims Paediatric pharmacokinetics differ significantly from adults due to age‐related physiological changes, necessitating precise dose adjustments. However, data on therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) implementation in paediatric setting remain limited.

Results From the Third and Fourth WHO External Quality Assessments for the Molecular Detection of Respiratory Syncytial Virus

open access: yesInfluenza and Other Respiratory Viruses, Volume 20, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background In 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) initiated the global RSV surveillance programme, which aimed to strengthen laboratory diagnostic capacity and evaluate molecular detection test performance. External quality assessments (EQAs) are conducted regularly as part of this programme to ensure ongoing laboratory proficiency.

A gradual and sustainable approach to diagnosing sleep and circadian disturbances in dementia

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Evidence linking sleep and circadian disruptions to the course of dementias, particularly Alzheimer's disease, has expanded. Such alterations are detectable from preclinical stages and parallel the disease progression. Assessing and managing sleep and circadian disturbances in patients with dementia remains challenging.
