Measures of Inequality Are Not Equal
The American Naturalist, 1999Inequalities in reproductive success or resource acquisition are fundamental to evolution and population ecology. There is, however, no unique way to measure inequality. We review 21 measures used to quantify it and clarify the conceptual difference between inequality and skewness.

On the Measurement of Participation Equality
International Journal of e-Collaboration, 2014Participation equality is often a key process construct in research models that examine the effects of group support systems (GSS) technology and e-collaboration. GSS are generally thought to reduce the dispersion of participation among team members and thus make participation more equally distributed.

Equal-noise spectroscopic measurement
Applied Optics, 1984An experimental spectroscopic method that allows arbitrary uncertainties of measurement without a priori knowledge of a source emission rate is presented. The method is fully developed using as an example a Fabry-Perot spectrometer examining a line source for Doppler width and shift information.

Equalizing and coherence measure correlators
Applied Optics, 1978A correlator is described that combines optical and electronic processing. The optical section is the first Fourier transform taking stage of a joint transform correlator; its output is electronically processed by a modified spectrum analyzer. Increased flexibility and various processing operations beyond those normally possible in an optical system ...

Measuring Gender Equality in Universities
2018The paper proposes a fuzzy expert system for gender equality evaluation in tertiary education that has been experimented in 6 European universities in Italy, Lithuania, Finland, Germany, Portugal, Ukraine within the EQUAL-IST Horizon 2020 project with the goal to design and implement Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) for IST Research Institutions.

Finite Equal-Interval Measurement Structures
Theoria, 1972In this article I consider some of the simplest non-trivial examples of measurement structures. The basic sets of objects or stimuli will in all cases be finite, and the adequacy of the elementary axioms for various structures depends heavily on this finiteness.

Measuring (In) Equality in Education
2018Educational inequality is a key factor leading to future social and economic inequality, suppressing social mobility and accelerating the trend of future poverty. The consequences of educational inequality are key issues in many social and economic aspects, and therefore, highlight the importance of our research.

Whose equality? Measuring group representation
Politics, 2017Presence, of bodies and ideas, is often taken as the primary indicator of political equality and, hence, democratic health. Intersectionality and constructivism question the validity of measuring presence. Turning theory into practice, we propose a comparative reflexive design guided by two research questions: (1) Who are the groups?
