Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1976
Abstract Records for 171 quiet (or almost quiet) days are available in a chain of six temporary stations and in three permanent observatories, spreading over 3000 km in latitude in Central Africa. The regular daily variation S R is defined by the deviation from the night level in each component.

On the return current of the equatorial electrojet
Advances in Space Research, 1992Abstract In practically all cases, investigators have found it compelling to include westward currents on the flanks of the dip equator in order to fit well the observed dip equatorial magnetic variation profiles. There are three sources of the return currents: the geometry of field lines in the dynamo region, the polarization at the boundaries of ...

Sporadic-E and the equatorial electrojet
Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1964Abstract An analysis of characteristics of sporadic- E at Indian and American equatorial stations has been made for quiet and disturbed days during the year 1958. The analysis reveals certain differences between the two chains of stations which indicate a possible difference in the width of the equatorial electrojet at the two zones.

Lunar modulations of the equatorial electrojet
Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1983Abstract An attempt has been made to reproduce the counter electrojet (CE) in the equatorial dynamo by considering neutral winds with solar (1,–2), (2, 4), (2, 2) and lunar (2, 2) tidal modes as well as a constant electrostatic field ( E y ). The daily variation of conductivity (σ) is assumed to consist of steady (average), diurnal and semi-diurnal ...

Introduction to Geomagnetism: The Equatorial Electrojet
American Journal of Physics, 1961The fundamentals of the measurement of the earth's magnetic field are described. The general form of the geomagnetic field is approximated to the field of a theoretical dipole magnet. The solar daily type (S) of transient variation in the geomagnetic field depends on the solar activity, the seasons, the geographical latitude, and local time.

Contour maps of the equatorial electrojet
Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1968Abstract The magnetic elements tabulated for the four I.G.Y. Pacific observatories of Guam, Koror, Fanning and Jarvis Islands are used to produce contour charts of the diurnal variation field by the method of projecting the observatory onto a geocentric sphere which is stationary with respect to the Sun.
