In this chapter we give an overview of the theory of scalar equilibrium problems. To emphasize the importance of this problem in nonlinear analysis and in several applied fields we first present its most important particular cases as optimization, Kirszbraun’s problem, saddlepoint (minimax) problems, and variational inequalities.

Time-Dependent Equilibrium Problems
2008Abstract The paper presents variational models for dynamic traffic, dynamic market, and evolutionary financial equilibrium problems taking into account that the equilibria are not fixed and move with time. The authors provide a review of the history of the variational inequality approach to problems in physics, traffic networks, and others, then they ...

Equivalence of Equilibrium Problems and Least Element Problems
Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 2007The authors introduce the concept of feasible set for an equilibrium problem with a convex cone, and generalize the notion of a \(Z\)-function for bifunctions. Under suitable assumptions, they derive some equivalence results of equilibrium problems, least element problems, and nonlinear programming problems.

Barrier methods for equilibrium problems
2017We consider several versions of the barrier method for a general equilibrium problem with nonlinear constraints in a reflexive Banach space setting. We suggest weak coercivity conditions instead of (generalized) monotonicity, including one containing a perturbed barrier function, in order to entail solutions for the equilibrium problem.
