Critical Coupling in Semi‐Trasparent Fano Resonators for Photothermal Converters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrathin metal–insulator multilayer architecture is engineered to exploit Fano‐resonant critical coupling, completely suppressing optical reflectance while achieving a balanced 50:50 trade‐off between absorbance and transmittance. Upon laser excitation at resonance, the metamaterial generates intense localized heat (ΔT≈550∘C$\Delta T {\approx }550^\

A Miniaturized Autonomous Thermomagnetic Generator

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Micro, autonomous and high power thermomagnetic generator operating between a heat dissipator and a processor. ABSTRACT Thermomagnetic generators (TMG) are promising devices for converting low‐grade waste heat into electricity. Self‐actuation using permanent magnets is the key to autonomy.

Equilibrium Exchange Rate in the Czech Republic: How Good is the Czech BEER? [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper investigates the equilibrium exchange rate of the Czech koruna using the reduced-form equation of the stock-flow approach advocated by, for example, Faruqee (1995) and Alberola et al. (1999).

Emergence of a Hexagonal Fe2S2 Single Layer Without a Bulk Counterpart via Phase Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Upon annealing, single‐layer Mackinawite iron sulfide transforms into a previously unknown hexagonal Fe2S2${\rm Fe}_2{\rm S}_2$ phase with β$\beta$‐CuI structure. STM, LEED, and first‐principles calculations identify the structure and show that electronic correlations and magnetic order are important for its stability.

The Behavioural Zloty/Euro Equilibrium Exchange Rate [PDF]

open access: yes
Poland is obligated to adopt the euro after the fulfilment, inter alia, of the exchange rate criterion which requires entering the Exchange Rate Mechanism II (ERM II).

Revisiting the Dollar-Euro Permanent Equilibrium Exchange Rate: Evidence from Multivariate Unobserved Components Models [PDF]

open access: yes
We propose an alterative approach to obtaining a permanent equilibrium exchange rate (PEER), based on an unobserved components (UC) model. This approach offers a number of advantages over the conventional cointegration-based PEER. Firstly, we do not rely

Proximity‐Tuned Magnetic and Transport Anomalies in All‐Epitaxial Fe5−xGeTe2/WSe2 Van der Waals Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
All‐epitaxial and scalable ferromagnetic/non‐magnetic Fe5−xGeTe2/WSe2 van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures exhibiting room‐temperature magnetism and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) are realized. The system displays proximity‐tuned magnetic anisotropy, thickness‐dependent unconventional Hall effects, and temperature‐dependent sign reversal of ...

Estimation of the Equilibrium Real Exchange Rate for Malawi

open access: yesIMF Working Papers, 2003
This paper computes Malawi's equilibrium real exchange rate as a function of its fundamentals as derived from economic theory. It finds evidence in favor of the equilibrium approach to exchange rate determination, with several variables (particularly government consumption and real per capita growth) found to drive movements in the time-varying ...

Economic Liberalization and the Equilibrium Real Exchange rate in Developing Countries [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper deals with the relation between commercial policy and "the" equilibrium real exchange rate. The paper clarifies the meaning of real exchange rate by comparing five different definitions that are currently found in the literature, The analysis ...

Endosomal Escape of siRNA Polyplexes: A Molecular Dynamics Perspective on Underlying Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular dynamics simulations reveal distinct endosomal escape mechanisms of siRNA nanoparticles, ranging from electrostatic membrane attachment to hydrophobic membrane fusion. Hydrophobic residues and anionic endosomal lipids emerge as key determinants of membrane disruption, linking molecular interactions to experimental delivery performance and ...
