Flexural Behavior of Bidirectionally Graded Lattice

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
An experimental study of the bending behavior of bidirectional body‐centered cubic lattice beams is conducted in comparison to uniform and unidirectional counterparts of electron beam melted SS 316 L. Experimental results are used to develop and validate a finite element model which is subsequently used to conduct parametric studies to assess the ...

Tower Cranes and Supply Points Locating Problem Using CBO, ECBO, and VPS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optimization in Civil Engineering. 2017; 7 (3) :393-411, 2018
Tower cranes are major and expensive equipment that are extensively used at building construction projects and harbors for lifting heavy objects to demand points. The tower crane locating problem to position a tower crane and supply points in a building construction site for supplying all requests in minimum time, has been raised from more than twenty ...

From 2D to 3D gamma passing rate tolerance and action limits for patient‐specific quality assurance in volumetric‐modulated arc therapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) requires an accurate patient‐specific quality assurance (PSQA) program. In clinical practice, this is usually performed using the γ‐index and the two‐dimensional gamma passing rate (2D %GP). A three‐dimensional (3D) index incorporating the patient anatomy could be more useful for the 3D dose ...

Investigation of the Uniformity of Gel Shrinkage by Imaging Tracer Particles Using X‐Ray Microtomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

A simple paper-based system for stock management

open access: yesCommunity Eye Health Journal, 2011
The best systems create little extra work for staff and can be implemented almost without thinking in the course of a busy day. The system used in the stock room of our eye clinic in Ivory Coast illustrates this well.
