Characterization of Bacterial Strains and Their Resistance Status in the Hospital Environment: Systematic Review [PDF]

open access: yesModern Medicine
Background: Clinical environments are considered reservoirs of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms that lead to the constant progression of nosocomial infections. The objective of this systematic review is to provide an epidemiological description of the

Blood Contamination of Anesthesia Equipment and Monitoring Equipment

open access: yesAnesthesia & Analgesia, 1994
This study was conducted to determine the extent of blood contamination of anesthesia equipment and monitoring equipment in clinical use in operating rooms. The study employed a catalytic-test method, which is used in forensic medicine, to detect blood contamination of anesthesia equipment and monitoring equipment.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Factor Design for the Oxide Etching Process to Reduce Edge Particle Contamination in Capacitively Coupled Plasma Etching Equipment

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
During the oxide layer etching process, particles in capacitively coupled plasma etching equipment adhere to the wafer edge and cause defects that reduce the yield from semiconductor wafers.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
