Amalgamations and Equitable Block-Colorings

2018
An H-decomposition of G is a partition P of E(G) into blocks, each element of which induces a copy of H. Amalgamations of graphs have proved to be a valuable tool in the construction of H-decompositions. The method can force decompositions to satisfy fairness notions.

Equitable list coloring and treewidth

Journal of Graph Theory, 2009
AbstractGiven lists of available colors assigned to the vertices of a graph G, a list coloring is a proper coloring of G such that the color on each vertex is chosen from its list. If the lists all have size k, then a list coloring is equitable if each color appears on at most ⌈|V(G)|/k⌉ vertices.

The Equitable Coloring of Graphs

1998
Let the vertices of a graph G be colored with k colors such that no adjacent vertices receive the same color and the sizes of the color classes differ by at most one. Then G is said to be equitably k-colorable. The equitable chromatic number x = (G) is the smallest integer k such that G is equitably k-colorable.
