An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Loan-Address Terms to Enhance Atmosphere of Source Novel in Target Novel

open access: yesHumaniora, 2018
The objective of this research was to analyze how English address terms in “The Princess Diaries” were translated into Indonesian in “Buku Harian Sang Putri”, which published eight times that might indicate its popularity among Indonesian ...

COMPARATIVE LAW AND LEGAL TRANSLATION IN THE SEARCH FOR FUNCTIONAL EQUIVALENTS – INTERTWINED OR SEPARATE DOMAINS?

open access: yesComparative Legilinguistics, 2013
There are no two identical languages, and there are no two identical legal systems; this is the challenge for both comparative lawyers and legal translators.

UVn-equivalence and n-equivalence

open access: yesTopology and its Applications, 1992
The following problem is considered: Suppose \(X\) and \(Y\) are two compacta embedded in the Hilbert cube \(Q\) as \(Z\)-sets. Can the property ``\(X\) and \(Y\) are \(\text{UV}^ n\)-equivalent (or \(n\)-equivalent)'' be described in terms of their complements \(Q-X\) and \(Q-Y\)?

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Equivalence of Syllogisms

open access: yesNotre Dame Journal of Formal Logic, 2004
Having introduced the 256 standard syllogisms, the author enlarges the definition of a syllogism by including 4 nonstandard figures and 4 nonstandard statement types, resulting in a space of \(8^4\) = 4096 syllogistic forms. This is convenient for theoretical purposes because this space is closed under obversion at each vertex, conversion at each side,

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

SOMALI PAREMIAS AND THEIR RUSSIAN EQUIVALENTS

open access: yesProverbium, 2020
It has long been noticed that paremias (proverbs, sayings etc., with all the differences of languages and cultures of the peoples who created them, are alike. This is due to the nature of paremias. As Russian folk-lorist G. L.
