Magnetic Equivalent Circuit Modeling of Induction Motors

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2007
Finite element models are invaluable for determining expected machine performance. However, finite element analysis can be computationally intense; particularly if a large numbers of studies or high bandwidth studies are required. One method to avoid this difficulty is to extract machine parameters from the finite element model and use the parameters ...

Equivalent Circuit for the Trans-Rotary Magnetic Gear

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2019
This letter proposes an equivalent circuit for the trans-rotary magnetic gear. The circuit is presented for both impedance and admittance analogies. In both analogies, the gearing effect is modeled by a transformer. The gear's compliance is modeled by a parallel capacitor in the impedance analogy and by a series inductor in the admittance analogy.

Magnetic Equivalent Circuit Modelling of Synchronous Machines

2023 IEEE International Electric Machines & Drives Conference (IEMDC), 2023
Design of electric machines constitutes a complex and nonlinear problem where the primary design tool is mainly the finite element method (FEM) in the absence of an accurate and easy to implement analytical technique. Although the accuracy of the FEM is high, its adoption within multi-objective optimization is hindered by the high computational burden.

Extended 2D magnetic equivalent circuit method

COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 2010
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to devise a magnetic field modelling approach suitable for simulating the transient behaviour of a class of electromagnetic systems (particularly linear synchronous motors).Design/methodology/approachThe classical 2D magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) approach is extended by separately accounting for leakage flux from

Magnetic equivalent circuit of PM hysteresis synchronous motor

Digest of INTERMAG 2003. International Magnetics Conference (Cat. No.03CH37401), 2003
This paper presents the magnetic equivalent circuit of a permanent magnet hysteresis synchronous motor (PMHS). The hybrid synchronous motor consists of 36% cobalt steel hysteresis alloys with neodymium iron boron permanent magnets to improve the overall performances of such a motor.

Magnetic-Shield-Type Fault Current Limiter Equivalent Circuit

IEEE Transactions on Appiled Superconductivity, 2004
In order to investigate how a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) can enhance the performance of a power system, an accurate circuit model of the device needs to be introduced in power system simulators. In this paper, we present a finite-element numerical model to calculate the time evolution of the voltage across a magnetic-shield-type SFCL,

A dynamic equivalent circuit model for solid magnetic cores

Proceedings of IEEE Power Electronics Specialist Conference - PESC '93, 2002
This paper presents a dynamic equivalent circuit model of solid magnetic cores for high frequency operation in power electronic circuits. The effects of eddy current, domain wall motion and hysteresis are taken into account by distributed equivalent resistors and distributed nonideal differential inductors, respectively.

Modeling integrated magnetic gears using a magnetic equivalent circuit

IECON 2015 - 41st Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2015
This paper introduces an integrated magnetic gear intended as direct-drive. Next, a magnetic equivalent circuit for the presented gear topology is proposed. This approach uses the principle of virtual work for torque calculation and takes magnetic leakage and saturation into account.

Nonlinear magnetic equivalent circuit of the hybrid magnetic bearing

COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 2019
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to create a reliable nonlinear magnetic equivalent circuit (NMEC) of the hybrid magnetic bearing (HMB). Commonly used magnetic equivalent circuits of HMB omit a saturation effect of the magnetic material as well as the leakage and fringing flux.
