Simulation of Payne Effect of Elastomeric Isolators with a Harmonic Balance Method

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2012
In the presented work, a non linear effect of rubber referred as Fletcher-Gent effect or Payne effect is investigated. It leads to a change in the rubber dynamic modulus with vibration amplitudes and, consequently, modifies resonance frequencies of ...

PBF‐LB/M of Ti‐6Al‐4V: High‐Pressure Solution Treatment and Aging for Applications in a Sustainable Aerospace

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing (AM) allows great geometric freedom for lightweight components. As parts are progressively optimized exploiting potentials in AM leading in smaller material cross sections, high pressure solution treating and aging (STA) treatments show an enormous potential for strongly improving material properties.

Finite Element  Simulation of  Stress  and Strain of Concasting Slab during Straightening

open access: yesTeshugang, 2006
The finite element simulation of stress and strain of 230 mm slab with casting rate 1.0 m/min and 3 different roller ways layout-single-point,four-point and continuous straightening have been carried out by elastoplastic finite element method.

Tuning of Fermi Contour Anisotropy in GaAs (001) 2D Holes via Strain

open access: yes, 2017
We demonstrate tuning of the Fermi contour anisotropy of two-dimensional (2D) holes in a symmetric GaAs (001) quantum well via the application of in-plane strain.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Laser Metal Powder Deposition of Titanium Microalloyed HSLA Steel FeC0.12Si0.25Mn1.3

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the additive manufacturing of titanium‐doped high‐strength low‐alloy (HSLA) steel via laser metal deposition. It reveals distinct process‐structure relationships for elemental powder blends compared to prealloyed feedstocks.

A Stress-Strain Model for Unconfined Concrete in Compression considering the Size Effect

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
In this study, a stress-strain model for unconfined concrete with the consideration of the size effect was proposed. The compressive strength model that is based on the function of specimen width and aspect ratio was used for determining the maximum ...

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

The moment of inertia method to calculate equivalent ranges in non-proportional tension–torsion histories

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2015
A critical issue in multiaxial damage calculation in non-proportional (NP) histories is to find the equivalent stress or strain ranges and mean components associated with each rainflow-counted cycle of the stress (or strain) path.
