Simple formulas for calculating equivalent von Mises stress and von Mises effective plastic strain in an elastic–plastic ordinary peridynamic analysis are proposed. The equivalent von Mises stress is calculated by equating the deviatoric part of strain energy obtained from classical continuum mechanics and peridynamics.

Equivalent strain in large deformation torsion testing : Theoretical and practical considerations
Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, 1982Abstract An analysis for determining the accumulated equivalent strain in large deformation is presented. It is shown that in the case of the torsion test, the equivalent strain expression derived by A. eichinger (1955) is invalid and that the simple expression valid for small strains continues to remain so for arbitrarily large strains.

Equivalent stress and total strain range predictions for multiaxial states of stress and strain
The Journal of Strain Analysis for Engineering Design, 1999The paper describes a procedure for modifying finite element predictions of equivalent stress and equivalent total strain in order to obtain equivalent stress and equivalent total strain ranges for lowcycle fatigue life estimates.

Application of equivalent stresses in calculating cyclic creep strains
Strength of Materials, 1980Cyclic creep has been studied in some detail under conditions of slowly changing loads [3-5 and others]. Material creep under cyclic loading with frequency f corresponding to normal ( f = 15-90 Hz) and high (f = 300-10,000 Hz) frequency loading conditions have not been studied sufficiently [2].

Predicting Hydrocarbon Strain Energy via a Group Equivalent Machine Learning Approach
The Journal of Physical Chemistry AStrain energy is a fundamental measure of the steric and configurational properties of organic molecules. The ability to estimate strain energy through quantum chemical simulations requires at minimum the knowledge of an initial set of nuclear coordinates.
