Sustainable bioplastics manufacturing from renewable sources

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioplastics are manufactured by using polymers from different bio‐based sources. These novel materials not only offer biodegradability but also possess various functional properties that make them suitable for diverse applications. Recent developments in the preparation of bioplastics are reported, highlighting the distinct properties of each type of ...

Mathematical analysis and its experimental comparisons for the accumulative roll bonding (ARB) process with different superimposed layers

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2021
Based on the traditional two-layer accumulative roll bonding (TARB), the geometrical variations and mathematical relationship during the four-layer accumulative roll bonding (FARB) were derived and summarized.

Alcohol‐induced altered glycans in human tracheal epithelial cells promote bacterial adhesion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Alcohol induces altered glycans to promote bacteria adhesion. Heavy alcohol drinking is known to increase the risk of bacterial pneumonia. However, the link between alcohol levels and risk of infection remains underexplored. Recently, we found that alcohol induced α2‐6sialo mucin O‐glycans in human tracheobronchial epithelial cells, which mediated the ...

Analysis of Fatigue Life of the Coiled Tubing with Ellipsoidal Defect

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2017
To prevent the coiled tubing from breaking down during operation, the fatigue life of the coiled tubing with defects should be predicted. The deformation and fatigue of the coiled tubing with different size of ellipsoid defects without inner pressure ...

Improved Equivalent Strain Method for Fatigue Life of Automobile Aluminum Alloy

open access: yesWorld Electric Vehicle Journal
Automotive parts are usually subjected to random loads with large mean tensile/compressive stresses under working conditions. It is important for automotive parts to have a long fatigue life under mean stress in practical engineering applications.

Numerical simulation and experimental investigation on multi-directional forging of pure molybdenum

open access: yesFenmo yejin jishu, 2021
The multi-directional forging process of pure molybdenum was numerically simulated by using DEFORM-3D finite element simulation software. Based on the forging experiment, the effects of deformation temperature, forging reduction, and forging steps on the

Equivalent Strain in Simple Shear Deformations

open access: yes, 2013
We show that simple shear and pure shear form two groups of transformations with different properties. The equivalent strain is viewed as an external control parameter of the deformation process at low homologous temperatures. The von Mises strain satisfies group-theoretic properties of both groups, supporting its use for measuring the equivalent ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.
