Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

A Study for Improved Prediction of the Cutting Force and Chip Shrinkage Coefficient during the SKD11 Alloy Steel Milling

open access: yesMachines, 2022
This study proposed an innovative method for improving the prediction of the cutting force (F) and chip shrinkage coefficient (K) for milling of SKD11 alloy steels using simulations and experimental results. Preliminary experimental measurements of the F

COMPUTATION METHOD WITH NODAL LOAD EQUIVALENT TO CREEP STRAIN

open access: yesDoboku Gakkai Ronbunshu, 1995

Twinning and grain subdivision during dynamic deformation of a Mg AZ31 sheet alloy at room temperature

open access: yes, 2011
The microstructural evolution of an AZ31 rolled sheet during dynamic deformation at strain rates of ∼103 s−1 has been investigated by electron backscatter diffraction, X-ray and neutron diffraction.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Study on Flat Die Wear Characteristics in Flat Die Pelletizing with Different Material Ratios Based on DEM-FEM

open access: yesAgriculture
Wear can occur in flat die pelletizers, often reducing service life. This study explores the issue of die hole wear in the pelletizing process of a standard Total Mixed Ration (TMR) feed. The selected TMR formulation comprises varying proportions of corn,

Formulation of continuous/discontinuous Galerkin methods for strain gradient-dependent damage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Continuum damage models are widely used to represent the development of microscopic defects that coalesce into a macroscopic crack. The microscopic defects cause a progressive weakening or softening of the material (damage).

Quasi-static and Dynamic Behavior of Additively Manufactured Metallic Lattice Cylinders

open access: yes, 2018
Lattice structures have tailorable mechanical properties which allows them to exhibit superior mechanical properties (per unit weight) beyond what is achievable through natural materials.
