Kuga–Satake Construction on Families of K3 Surfaces of Picard Rank 14

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The isometry between the type IV6 and the type II4 hermitian symmetric domains suggests a possible relation between suitable moduli spaces of K3 surfaces of Picard rank 14 and of polarized abelian 8‐folds with totally definite quaternion multiplication. We show how this isometry induces a geometrically meaningful map between such moduli spaces

Construction of equivariant vector bundles

open access: yes, 2004
Let $X$ be the wonderful compactification of a complex adjoint symmetric space $G/K$ such that $rk(G/K)=rk(G)-rk(K)$. We show how to extend equivariant vector bundles on $G/K$ to equivariant vector bundles on $X$, generated by their global sections and having trivial higher cohomology groups.

Visualizing Image Segmentation Network Behavior Through the Lens of Scale Space Analysis

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Deep neural networks are widely used for image segmentation, also in sensitive applications such as medical imaging or autonomous driving. However, few explainable AI methods are available that help developers understand such networks beyond classification.

Torus-equivariant vector bundles on projective spaces [PDF]

open access: yesNagoya Mathematical Journal, 1988
For a free Z-module N of rank n, let T = TN be an n-dimensional algebraic torus over an algebraically closed field k defined by N. Let X = TN emb (Δ) be a smooth complete toric variety defined by a fan Δ (cf. [6]). Then T acts algebraically on X. A vector bundle E on X is said to be an equivariant vector bundle, if there exists an isomorphism ft: t*E →

AI foundation models in plant biology

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Foundation models decode genomes, engineer proteins, phenotype crops, and drive AI agents across plant biology. This figure was created in BioRender (BioRender.com/xcmmkel). Summary Rapid technological progress has enabled plant biologists to accumulate unprecedented volumes of multi‐scale, multi‐modal data, yet this abundance of data has intensified ...

Equivariant Vector Bundles on Varieties with Codimension-one Orbits

open access: yes, 2022
Let $G$ be an algebraic group and let $X$ be a smooth $G$-variety with two orbits: an open orbit and a a closed orbit of codimension $1$. We give an algebraic description of the category of $G$-equivariant vector bundles on $X$ under a mild technical hypothesis.

Research on Weakly Supervised Deep Learning Model for Semantic Segmentation of Pest and Disease Regions in Durian Blind Spots

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
Durian is a high‐value economic crop, which presents challenges in the orchards, such as complex terrain, significant canopy shading, and blind spots in manual inspections. These blind spots often become the key sources of pest and disease spread, which requires the drone‐based intelligent monitoring solution capable of operating stably in complex ...

Calibration of a Neural Network Ocean Closure for Improved Mean State and Variability

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 13, 16 July 2026.
Abstract Global ocean models exhibit biases in the mean state and variability, particularly at coarse resolution, where mesoscale eddies are unresolved. To address these biases, parameterization coefficients are typically tuned ad hoc. Here, we formulate parameter tuning as a calibration problem using Ensemble Kalman Inversion (EKI).

String topology via the coHochschild complex and local intersections

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 114, Issue 1, July 2026.
Abstract We construct an algebraic model for the Chas–Sullivan product and the Goresky–Hingston coproduct in string topology. The construction takes as its initial input a simplicial complex equipped with a local pairing on its simplicial chains, for instance, a homology manifold with its local intersection pairing.
