WRF high resolution dynamical downscaling of ERA-Interim for Portugal

Climate Dynamics, 2012
This study proposes a dynamically downscaled climatology of Portugal, produced by a high resolution (9 km) WRF simulation, forced by 20 years of ERA-Interim reanalysis (1989–2008), nested in an intermediate domain with 27 km of resolution. The Portuguese mainland is characterized by large precipitation gradients, with observed mean annual precipitation

An ERA‐Interim HAILCAST hail climatology for southern Africa

International Journal of Climatology, 2020
AbstractUnderstanding the character of hail is an important part of mitigating its impact on life and property. Climatologies of hail over South Africa are rare and based on observed data with a coarse spatial and temporal resolution. In this article, a hail climatology is created for southern Africa from reanalysis data.

Evaluation of ERA-interim monthly temperature data over the Tibetan Plateau

Journal of Mountain Science, 2014
In this study, surface air temperature from 75 meteorological stations above 3000 m on the Tibetan Plateau are applied for evaluation of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) third-generation reanalysis product ERA-Interim in the period of 1979-2010.

Evaluation of Surface Fluxes in ERA-Interim Using Flux Tower Data

Journal of Climate, 2016
Abstract Surface air temperature Ta is largely determined by surface net radiation Rn and its partitioning into latent (LE) and sensible heat fluxes (H). Existing model evaluations by comparison of absolute flux values are of limited help because the evaluation results are a blending of inconsistent spatial scales, inaccurate model ...

Assessment of ERA-Interim Driven Simulation Over Italy with COSMO-CLM

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2013
This study presents the results of a dynamically downscaled high resolution (about 8 km) climate simulation over Italy, produced with COSMO-CLM model, forced by ERA-Interim reanalysis and covering the time period from 1979 to 2011. Model results have been analysed in terms of two-meter temperature and precipitations.

Homogenisierung von Radiosondentemperaturzeitreihen in der Antarktis mit ERA-Interim Daten

2010
Das am Institut für Meteorologie und Geophysik der Universität Wien entwickelte Verfahren zur Homogenisierung von Radiosondentemperaturzeitreihen RAOBCORE (Radiosonde Observation Correction using Reanalysis) hat bisher Zeitreihen der Differenz zwischen Beobachtungen und Backgroundvorhersagen aus ERA-40 Reanalysen (sogenannte Innovationsstatistiken) zum

Sensitivity of ERA-Interim driven RegCM4 precipitation to horizontal resolution

2014
As a part of the EURO-Cordex project, two 20-yr integrations (1989-2008) of the Regional Climate Model RegCM4 (Giorgi et al. 2012) over Europe were performed at the Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Croatia (DHMZ). Both simulations were driven with ERA-Interim (Dee et al.
