A Plant Photoregulator‐Inspired S‐Type Heterojunction System for Diabetic Keratopathy via Tri‐Modal Light‐Driven Immunometabolic Reprogramming, Tissue Repair, and Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To address the multifaceted imbalance in diabetic keratopathy, a light‐responsive biomimetic platform (WCNx‐Rh2) is developed and integrates glucose degradation, immune modulation, and antibacterial defense through a designed heterojunction and screened immunomodulator. WCNx‐Rh2 reduces AGEs/ROS and inflammatory signaling, reprogramming dendritic cells

S100A8/A9‐High Macrophages Activate Intestinal Fibroblasts via mCCL6/hCCL15‐CCR1 Axis to Drive Intestinal Fibrosis in Crohn's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
S100A8/A9‐high macrophages are markedly enriched in the stenotic intestinal tissue of patients with Crohn's disease. These profibrotic macrophages secrete mCCL6 in a STAT3‐dependent manner. mCCL6 and its human ortholog hCCL15 activate fibroblasts via the CCR1 receptor, thereby driving excessive collagen deposition.

Self‐Sustaining Lactate Depletion Nanoplatform Remodels Tumor Microenvironment and Augments Synergistic Photodynamic/Photothermal/Chemodynamic/Starvation Therapy for Eradication of Colon Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The HILA nanoplatform integrates HMnO2, LOX, and ICG to orchestrate multimodal therapy (starvation, chemodynamic, photodynamic, and photothermal) for achieving efficient colon cancer eradication. The established HMnO2‐LOX catalytic cycle continuously consumes lactate, acidifys microenvironment, relieves hypoxia, and generats reactive oxygen species ...

NIR‐II Light‐Triggered Electron Flow Initiates Cuproptosis‐Centered Thermoelectric‐Immunotherapy for Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A NIR‐II light‐activatable thermoelectric nanoreactor converts surface‐bound Cu2+ into bioactive Cu+ via directed electron flow. This spatiotemporally controlled reduction triggers potent cuproptosis and immunogenic cell death, eradicating primary tumors and, together with aPD‐1 therapy, suppressing metastases while establishing durable immune memory ...

Mechanical excavation of wetland habitat failed to eradicate invasive American red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) in Malta

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence
Invasive crayfish are an important ecological concern in many freshwater ecosystems. Many efforts have been made to eradicate them, but there is very little documentation of the effectiveness of these efforts. Between 2019 and 2020, a restoration project

Calcineurin‐Dependent Stress Adaptation Enables Caspofungin Heteroresistance Leading to Stable Resistance in Candida Glabrata

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Caspofungin heteroresistance is prevalent in clinical Candida glabrata isolates and depends on calcineurin‐mediated stress adaptation. This transient phenotype serves as a reservoir for resistance evolution, enabling the emergence of stable resistant descendants under prolonged drug pressure.

South Sudan’s journey to defeat Guinea Worm Disease: The role of President Jimmy Carter and the Carter Center

open access: yesSouth Sudan Medical Journal
Guinea Worm Disease (GWD), caused by the parasitic worm Dracunculus medinensis, is a debilitating condition characterized by painful skin ulcers. This waterborne disease, transmitted by ingesting contaminated drinking water infected with the larvae poses
