Precise, Fast, and Low-cost Concept Erasure in Value Space: Orthogonal Complement Matters

Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition
Recent success of text-to-image (T2I) generation and its increasing practical applications, enabled by diffusion models, require urgent consideration of erasing unwanted concepts, e.g., copyrighted, offensive, and unsafe ones, from the pre-trained models

Robust Concept Erasure Using Task Vectors

arXiv.org
With the rapid growth of text-to-image models, a variety of techniques have been suggested to prevent undesirable image generations. Yet, these methods often only protect against specific user prompts and have been shown to allow unsafe generations with ...

A Survey of the Past, Present, and Future of Erasure Coding for Storage Systems

ACM Transactions on Storage
Erasure coding is a known redundancy technique that has been popularly deployed in modern storage systems to protect against failures. By introducing a small portion of coded redundancy into data storage, erasure coding is shown to provide higher ...

Erasure coding for distributed storage: an overview

Science China Information Sciences, 2018
In a distributed storage system, code symbols are dispersed across space in nodes or storage units as opposed to time. In settings such as that of a large data center, an important consideration is the efficient repair of a failed node.

Resource theories of quantum channels and the universal role of resource erasure

, 2019
We initiate the systematic study of resource theories of quantum channels, i.e. of the dynamics that quantum systems undergo by completely positive maps, in abstracto: Resources are in principle all maps from one quantum system to another, but some maps ...

Erasures

2014
This chapter focuses on how discussions and debates about trauma often inadvertently erase victims' experiences and identities in order to identify real victims. Victims' memoirs say a great deal about how their authors are made to feel that they impose on others, become objects of contempt or pity by virtue of their demands, or have experiences whose ...

Entropic memory erasure

Physical Review E, 2014
We have considered a Brownian particle confined in a two-dimensional bilobal enclosure where the state of the particle represents a bit of information having binary value 0 (left lobe) or 1 (right lobe). A time linear force is applied on the particle, driving it selectively to a particular lobe, and thus erasing one bit of information.
