Understanding exosomes in facial esthetics and skin aging
Abstract Background Skin aging is a multifactorial process mediated by intrinsic (genetic and metabolic) and extrinsic (environmental) factors leading to functional and structural deterioration, including wrinkles, loss of collagen and elastin, as well as various pigmentation disorders.

Abstract figure legend During cardiopulmonary exercise testing, the decline in oxygenation in the prefrontal cortex of women is striking. This crucial brain area is directly involved in planning motor tasks. The decline is particularly pronounced at higher exercise intensities, especially after reaching the respiratory compensation point or anaerobic ...

Active mode-locking via pump modulation in a Tm-doped fiber laser
We propose and experimentally realize a new class of actively mode-locking technique using pump modulation for rare-earth doped fiber lasers. A Tm-doped fiber laser at 2 μm is mode-locked using the proposed active mode-locking via pump modulation ...

Abstract figure legend Propionate in the fetal circulation is thought to originate from fermentation of dietary fibre by the maternal gut microbiota. However, the mechanism of transplacental transport has remained unclear. Here, we measured propionate permeability using a placental barrier model generated by differentiating human placental trophoblast ...

Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Fatty Liver Disease: From Pathogenesis to Treatment
Extracellular vesicles play a crucial role in interorgan crosstalk of adipose–liver and gut–liver axes and hold potential as therapeutic targets and drug delivery systems for metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). Abbreviations: AT: adipose tissue; EVs: extracellular vesicles; HL: healthy liver; NAFL: nonalcoholic fatty liver ...

Shear Wave Elastography to Assess Respiratory Muscle Function in Congenital Myopathies
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Respiratory muscle dysfunction is prevalent in congenital myopathies and often leads to respiratory failure. Ultrasound shear wave elastography (SWE) measures tissue elasticity and has been proposed as an alternative to invasive measures of respiratory muscle contractility.

ABSTRACT Transparent oxyfluoride glass‐ceramics combining broad ultraviolet‐to‐mid‐infrared transmission with enhanced rare‐earth luminescence are promising materials for mid‐infrared photonic applications. In this work, erbium‐doped indium‐germanate oxyfluoride glasses exhibiting good glass‐forming ability under conventional melt–quenching conditions ...

In this investigation, a convex-shaped fiber ring (CSFR)-based single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) is proposed and experimentally verified. The CSFR, composed of only two optical couplers and forming a double-ring architecture,

Gain-managed nonlinear amplification in an erbium-doped fiber
To our knowledge, we report the first experimental demonstration of gain-managed nonlinear (GMN) amplification of femtosecond pulses in an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). We investigated the GMN amplification using two different seed sources, operating at wavelengths of 1530 and 1560 nm.
