Effects of Water Diversion on Hydrological and Vegetation Dynamics in a Downstream Wetland Ecosystem

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
Process‐based eco‐hydrologic model quantified the impact of water diversion on the hydrologic cycle and vegetation changes in the downstream wetland. Reproducibility of simulation results implies the model includes important factors associated with hydrologic change and vegetation succession.

Nature‐Positive Materials Engineering: Carbon Electrodes from Satoyama Biomass

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, Volume 26, Issue 7, July 2026.
Nature‐positive materials engineering can link satoyama forest stewardship with the design of carbon electrodes for batteries, supercapacitors, and electrocatalysis. By turning underused firewood and charcoal resources into functional carbons, this approach reduces mining footprints while supporting biodiversity, landscape resilience, and regional ...

Future Warming Decreases Irrigation‐Induced Yield Benefits in Global Food Production

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Irrigation has enabled higher and more stable food production than when farmers relied only on rainfed cropping systems in the past. However, its future benefits may diminish under climate change due to increasing crop water demand and constraints on water availability.

MIG‐seq2: Multiplexed Inter‐Simple Sequence Repeat Genotyping by Sequencing With Dual‐Unique Indices

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 4, July 2026.
We developed a new version of the Multiplexed ISSR Genotyping by Sequencing (MIG‐seq) method, called MIG‐seq2. This improved protocol incorporates dual unique indices to distinguish more than 1344 samples and optimizes primer tail sequences to improve sequence quality.

The Existence and Uniqueness of Solutions in the Leaf Photosynthesis‐Transpiration‐Stomatal Conductance Model for C3 Plants

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 7, July 2026.
The leaf photosynthesis–transpiration–stomatal conductance model has been widely used to quantify photosynthesis, transpiration, and stomatal conductance in terrestrial plants. However, since its proposal more than 30 years ago, it has remained unclear whether a solution always exists and, even if one is obtained, whether it is the correct one actually

Comparing v11.2 OCO‐2 and v11 OCO‐3 XCO2 ${\mathbf{X}}_{{\text{CO}}_{\mathbf{2}}}$ Retrievals With Ground‐Based COCCON Measurements

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The Orbiting Carbon Observatory‐2 and ‐3 (collectively termed “OCO‐2/3,” hereafter) missions, together, provide precise and accurate global data records that contribute to a better understanding of the variability in atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2).
