Redox signals and oxidative stress in the control of mitochondrial protein import

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Mitochondrial protein import is essential for organelle biogenesis and cellular homeostasis. It operates in an environment that is intrinsically shaped by redox chemistry. Mitochondria are major sources of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which arise as by‐products of oxidative phosphorylation. Cells therefore maintain sophisticated ROS‐handling

Validation of a Pregnancy‐Associated Glycoprotein–Based Lateral Flow Assay for Early Pregnancy Detection in Goats

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
The commercial AOFPT developed to detect PAG molecules in bovine serum, was observed to be a rapid, practical, and effective method for early pregnancy diagnosis for to improve reproductive performance and herd management strategies in goats, especially following the post‐mating 28th day .

Generalist passerine birds perform a functional role as pollinators in temperate Europe

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 7, July 2026.
Nectar‐feeding birds are effective pollinators. In temperate Europe, songbirds visit flowers but lack specialist traits, so functional pollination has been discounted. We use observations, pollen identification and experiments to demonstrate that generalist birds affect fruit‐set of flowering trees.

Worldwide Invasions of Centrarchidae: The Dark Side of the Sunfish Family

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, Volume 27, Issue 4, Page 781-812, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Freshwater fish invasions are major drivers of global ecological change, disrupting native biodiversity and ecosystem functions. However, many invasive fish hold significant socioeconomic value, resulting in conflict over their management. Centrarchidae, which are globally distributed and are important for sportfishing and aquaculture, are now
