Airborne Environmental DNA for Moth Monitoring: Effectiveness, Challenges, and Complementarity With Traditional Methods

Airborne eDNA metabarcoding captured broad patterns of moth diversity and detected species missed by light traps, but failed to reflect abundance and recovered fewer species overall. Plusiodonta casta (Butler, 1878) (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Calpinae) found in West Sayan (Central Siberia, Russia)

The first record of Plusiodonta casta (Butler, 1878) from West Sayan Mountains in Siberia based on photographic observation is presented. The new finding is located ca 3,000 km to the west from the previously known distribution area of the species.

Cryptic Vocal Communication in the Proboscis Bat (Rhynchonycteris naso)

Proboscis bats (Rhynchonycteris naso) balance communication and crypsis through distinct vocal strategies. Naturally selected calls are high‐frequency, short‐range, and produced during motion, reducing predator detection. In contrast, sexually selected signals are more conspicuous.

Contribution to the Erebidae of Jordan (Lepidoptera: Erebidae)
