Li-Yorke chaos in linear dynamics

open access: yes, 2015
We obtain new characterizations of Li Yorke chaos for linear operators on Banach and Fréchet spaces. We also offer conditions under which an operator admits a dense set or linear manifold of irregular vectors.

Ganikhodjaev\u27s conjecture on mean ergodicity of quadratic stochastic operators

open access: yes, 2019
A linear stochastic (Markov) operator is a positive linear contraction which preserves the simplex. A quadratic stochastic (nonlinear Markov) operator is a positive symmetric bilinear operator which preserves the simplex.

Stability of operators and operator semigroups

open access: yes, 2010
This book is about stability of linear dynamical systems, discrete and continuous. More precisely, we discuss convergence to zero of strongly continuous semigroups of operators and of powers of a bounded linear operator, both with respect to different ...

The generalised Berger-Wang formula and the spectral radius of linear cocycles

open access: yes, 2019
Using ergodic theory we prove two formulae describing the relationships between different notions of joint spectral radius for sets of bounded linear operators acting on a Banach space. The first formula was previously obtained by V.S.

Mini-Workshop: New Horizons in Linear Dynamics, Universality, and the Invariant Subspace Problem

open access: yes
The mini-workshop New Horizons in Linear Dynamics, Universality, and the Invariant Subspace Problem discussed recent advances in the study of dynamical properties of continuous linear operators, and in the related study of universal properties of ...

Algebraic approach towards conductivity in ergodic media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This thesis is about an operator algebraic approach towards the derivation of the electrical conductivity in disordered solid states based on the theory of quantum many-particle systems. Such an approach is of interest since it allows for the description

A parametrised version of Moser's modifying terms theorem [PDF]

open access: yes
A sharpened version of Moser's `modifying terms' KAM theorem is derived, and it is shown how this theorem can be used to investigate the persistence of invariant tori in general situations, including those where some of the Floquet exponents of the ...

Pointwise and ergodic convergence rates of a variable metric proximal ADMM

open access: yes, 2018
Authors: Max L.N. Gonçalves, M. Marques Alves and Jefferson G. Melo In this talk, we discuss pointwise and ergodic convergence rates for a variable metric proximal alternating direction method of multiplicas (VM-PADMM) for solving linearly ...

Resonances for graph directed Markov systems, and geometry of infinitely generated dynamical systems

open access: yes, 2009
In the first part of this thesis we transfer a result of Guillopé et al. concerning the number of zeros of the Selberg zeta function for convex cocompact Schottky groups to the setting of certain types of graph directed Markov systems (GDMS ...
