Three eriophyoid mite species (Acari: Eriophyoidea: Eriophyidae) from Iran

Three mite species of the family Eriophyidae from Iran are described and illustrated. They are: Tegolophus marrubiumer sp. nov. on Marrubium vulgare L. (Lamiaceae); Phyllocoptes sp. cf. balasi Farkas, 1962 on Sanguisorba minor Scop. subsp. minor (Rosaceae) and Aceria fasciculifolis sp. nov. on Astragalus fasciculifolius Boiss. (Fabaceae).

Some Eriophyid Species (Acarina: Eriophyidae) from Mexico

Eriophyes neopiperis, Aceria neocordiae, A. macatlunis, A. triumfettae , and Acalitus batissimus , all new species, are described and illustrated. The species were collected in a rain forest area about 160 miles south of the Tropic of Cancer in western Mexico.

The dispersal of plant-feeding mites can occur involuntarily, through transportation of infested plant parts, or voluntarily, by walking to new plant parts or to suitable spots where biotic (phoresis) or abiotic (wind, agricultural tools, etc.) factors carry them over long distances.

Eriophyid mites (Acari: Eriophyidae) from Brazilian sedges (Cyperaceae)

Abstract Four species of eriophyid mites are reported from sedges from Brazil, namely: Eriophyes cyperi Channabasavanna, 1966 and Eriophyes cyperinus n. sp. from Cyperus sp., and Moraesia tau n. gen., n. sp. and Novophytoptus silvai n. sp. from Cyperus giganteus Vahl.

Two new species of eriophyid mites (Acari: Eriophyidae) from Malaysia

Two new species of the family Eriophyidae (Acari: Eriophyoidea) from Mount Trusmadi, Malaysia, are described and illustrated. They are Neodicrothrix grandcaputus sp. nov. on Stachyurus himalaicus (Stachyuraceae) and Latitudo asiaticis sp. nov. on Psychotria asiatica (Rubiaceae). Both of the two new species are vagrant on the lower leaf surface.

Fungi infecting rust and gall mites (acarina: Eriophyidae)

Abstract The fungal parasites of eriophyid mites are briefly reviewed; the nomenclature of Botrytis eriophytis (Massee) is reconsidered and a new combination made under Paecilomyces Bainier. P. eriophytis is shown to infect a tetranychid and eriophyids other than Cecidophyopsis ribis (Westwood), from which it was originally isolated.
