Two new species of Eriophyidae from China (Acari: Eriophyoidea) with a list of bamboo-associated eriophyoid mites

This paper presents a list of the species, the host plants and distribution of eriophyoid mites on bamboo in the world. Seventy-two eriophyoid species from 32 genera, associated with bamboo species from 13 genera, are listed.

Abstract Heterotergum flacourtiae n.sp. (Eriophyidae: Acari) is described and illustrated. It was found in Giza region in spring primarily on the lower side of leaves of Flacourtia indica Merr., preferring the lower leaf surfaces.

Fungi infecting rust and gall mites (acarina: Eriophyidae)

Abstract The fungal parasites of eriophyid mites are briefly reviewed; the nomenclature of Botrytis eriophytis (Massee) is reconsidered and a new combination made under Paecilomyces Bainier. P. eriophytis is shown to infect a tetranychid and eriophyids other than Cecidophyopsis ribis (Westwood), from which it was originally isolated.

Eriophyes neopiperis, Aceria neocordiae, A. macatlunis, A. triumfettae , and Acalitus batissimus , all new species, are described and illustrated. The species were collected in a rain forest area about 160 miles south of the Tropic of Cancer in western Mexico.
