Erosion-Corrosion in Phosphoric Acid Production

Materials Performance, 2010
Phosphoric acid (H3PO4) is produced by a reaction between phosphate ore and sulfuric acid (H2SO4), forming a thick slurry. Erosion-corrosion-resistant alloys are selected for fabrication of turbine agitators and slurry pumps. The simultaneous process of mechanical erosion and electrochemical corrosion is reported.

Complexities in predicting erosion corrosion

Wear, 1999
Erosion corrosion describes a range of situations from those that are dominated by dissolution or oxidation, to those where mechanical damage to the underlying metal predominates. This paper reviews the complexities in predicting attack at the dissolution end of this spectrum.

Erosion and Erosion-Corrosion of Metals

Corrosion, 1995
The loss of material from the surface of a metal being impacted by small, solid particles carried in a flowing gas occurs by a sequence of mechanical actions. The present work, which was presented as the plenary lecture at CORROSION/95, describes the mechanisms that occur on ductile and brittle materials and relates these mechanisms to surface loss ...
