The growth behavior and performance of microarc oxidation coating on AZ91/Ti composite: Influence of Ti-reinforcement phase and electrolyte

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys
Magnesium matrix composites with both high strength and ductility have been achieved by introducing pure Ti particles. However, the properties of the surfaces of the composites need to be improved by surface technology, such as micro-arc oxidation (MAO).

A Unified Polymer Hydrogel Electrolyte Integrating Robust Adhesion, Self‐Healing, and Oxygen Permeability in Flexible Neutral Zn‐Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Flexible neutral Zn‐air batteries achieving a remarkable 3000‐cycle lifespan and withstanding 1000 bending cycles are reported. This performance is realized by employing a 3D physically cross‐linked neutral hydrogel electrolyte that integrates high adhesion, self‐healing, O2 permeability, and CO2 tolerance to resolve critical stability challenges ...

Effect of carbon content on the erosion-corrosion behavior of low-alloy martensitic steels under simulated marine dredging slurry

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
In this work, five low alloy martensitic steels (362.6–709.2 HV) with different carbon content (0.1–0.6 %) and Q355 comparative steel (171.8 HV) were designed to study the erosion-corrosion behavior under simulated marine dredging slurry.

Steric Coordination Modulated Iodine Chemistry With Four‐Electron Conversion for Zinc‐Iodine Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐additive electrolyte strategy is developed to address the hydrolysis of I+ in the aqueous electrolytes. The steric‐hindrance effect of TES− effectively shields I+ from nucleophilic attacks by hydroxyl groups, facilitating the reversible I−/I0/I+ conversion with four‐electron transfer.

Erosion-corrosion maps for carbon steel in crude oil/water slurries : impact angle and applied potential effects

open access: yes, 2010
In studies of erosion-corrosion, there have been few investigations into the effect of tribological issues, such as particle impact and impact angle, on erosion-corrosion of materials in oil field production.

All‐Polyimide‐Mediated Liquid Metal Assembly on Aerogels for Breathable and Robust Electronic Skins

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐polyimide‐mediated assembly strategy resolves the fundamental conflict between physiological breathability and electromechanical robustness in wearable electronics. By integrating a polyamic acid‐encapsulated liquid metal ink onto an ultralight polyimide aerogel, imidization‐induced contraction enables low‐temperature conductive activation and ...

A map and a pipe : a new approach to characterizing erosion-corrosion regimes of Fe in three dimensions using CFD modelling

open access: yes, 2009
In studies of erosion-corrosion, much work has been carried out in recent years to identify regimes of behaviour. Such regimes describe the transition between the erosion and corrosion dominated mechanisms.

Micro-abrasion–corrosion of a Co–Cr/UHMWPE couple in Ringer's solution : an approach to construction of mechanism and synergism maps for application to bio-implants

open access: yes, 2010
In studies of tribo-corrosion, the degradation of bio-materials has become of increasing research interest in recent years. This is because, in many cases, the interactions of the tribological and corrosion component in biological environments are not ...
