Erosion and Erosion-Corrosion of Metals
Corrosion, 1995The loss of material from the surface of a metal being impacted by small, solid particles carried in a flowing gas occurs by a sequence of mechanical actions. The present work, which was presented as the plenary lecture at CORROSION/95, describes the mechanisms that occur on ductile and brittle materials and relates these mechanisms to surface loss ...

The erosion and erosion-corrosion of chromized steel
Surface and Coatings Technology, 1992The erosion and erosion-corrosion of chromized coatings on carbon and tool steels were investigated under test conditions which simulated those in the convection pass superheater tube banks of circulating fluidized-bed combustors. Coatings diffused by several different processes were obtained from coating suppliers and compared with a plasma-sprayed ...

An approach to modelling erosion-corrosion of alloys using erosion-corrosion maps
Corrosion Science, 1993A model has been developed to establish the boundaries on erosion-corrosion maps, where increases in erosion and corrosion are represented by increases in velocity and temperature respectively. The maps show the transitions through the regimes as functions of the main erosion-corrosion variables.

Abstract This chapter discusses the erosion and erosion-corrosion behaviors of metals and alloys. It includes data primarily related to particle-laden gas streams impacting on the metal surface. It also covers properties and applications and provides guidelines for materials selection.

Study of Erosion–Corrosion and Corrosion Behavior of Commercially Pure-Ti During Slurry Erosion
Journal of Tribology, 2018The erosion–corrosion (EC) and pure erosion of commercially pure titanium have been investigated in a 3.5% sodium chloride solution containing 10, 30, and 60 g/l SiO2 particles with an average size of 318 μm. The tests were performed at impact velocities of 4, 6, and 9 m/s under two impact angles of 40 deg and 90 deg. Polarization technique was used to

Corrosion, Erosion and Erosion-Corrosion of in-Bed Components in Fluidized Bed Combustion
CORROSION 1986, 1986Abstract Fluidized-Bed combustion is an attractive option to conventional pulverized coal combustion because not only is it relatively fuel-flexible, but the low overall combustion temperature results in low NOX emissions, and by adding an acceptor such as limestone to the bed, sulfur can be captured as a sulfate, limiting the emission ...

Numerical Prediction of Erosion-Corrosion in Bends
Corrosion, 2000A combination of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and Lagrangian particle tracking has been used to predict two-phase erosion-corrosion in a three-dimensional, square-sectioned U-bend. A commercial CFD code has been used to predict fluid flow fields using the k-ε turbulence model.

Corrosion and Erosion in Turbines
Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, 1961Erosion of turbine blades is a major cause of plant outage within the C.E.G.B., and the mechanism and methods of protection which have been adopted are described in some detail in this paper. The turbine outage time arising from corrosion causes is far less than that due to erosion but, nevertheless, a few persistent corrosion problems remain.

Erosion-Corrosion Synergistics in the Low Erosion Regime
CORROSION 1986, 1986Abstract Many engineering alloys display good high temperature corrosion resistance. However, when they are used in corrosive environments where they are subjected to erosion also, the corrosion resistance has been adversely affected.
