3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Hydrogen film cooling of a small hydrogen-oxygen thrust chamber and its effect on erosion rates of various ablative materials [PDF]

open access: yes
An experimental investigation was conducted to determine what arrangement of film-coolant-injection orifices should be used to decrease the erosion rates of small, high temperature, high pressure ablative thrust chambers without incurring a large penalty

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Soil erosion rates in Burgundian vineyards

open access: yes, 2006

ESTIMATION OF SOIL EROSION TIME PATHS: THE VALUE OF SOIL MOISTURE AND TOPSOIL DEPTH INFORMATION [PDF]

open access: yes
Rates of soil erosion in the dryland cropping region of Saskatchewan are investigated under alternative cropping strategies. Chemical fallow is examined as an alternative to tillage fallow for moisture and soil conservation.

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Mechanism and Quantification of Parallel Flow Erosion of Herbaceous Plant Revetment Considering Root Action

open access: yesRenmin Zhujiang
The existing studies on erosion of herbaceous plant revetment often have unclear analysis of mechanism and process and inconsistent assumptions of calculation equations with the actual erosion phenomena.

3D‐Printed Sulfur‐Derived Polymers With Controlled Architectures for Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rheology‐guided formulation design for direct ink writing enables the fabrication of 3D sulfur copolymer cathodes with controlled architectures for lithium‐sulfur batteries. The printed electrodes exhibit multiscale porosity and high sulfur utilization, delivering enhanced electrochemical performance compared to conventional cast electrodes.

AN ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF BEACH EROSION MANAGEMENT ALTERNATIVES [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines the relative economic efficiency of three distinct beach erosion management policies — beach nourishment with shoreline armoring, beach nourishment without armoring, and shoreline retreat. The analysis focuses on (i) the recreational

Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...
