Scanning electron microscopic study of the in situ effect of salivary stimulation on erosion and abrasion in human and bovine enamel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This in situ study investigated, using scanning electron microscopy, the effect of stimulated saliva on the enamel surface of bovine and human substrates submitted to erosion followed by brushing abrasion immediately or after one hour.

Novel Functional Materials via 3D Printing by Vat Photopolymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective systematically analyzes strategies for incorporating functionalities into 3D‐printed materials via Vat Photopolymerization (VP). It explores the spectrum of achievable functionalities in recently reported novel materials—such as conductive, energy‐storing, biodegradable, stimuli‐responsive, self‐healing, shape‐memory, biomaterials, and

Use of dentifrices to prevent erosive tooth wear: harmful or helpful?

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2014
Dental erosion is the loss of dental hard tissues caused by non-bacterial acids. Due to acid contact, the tooth surface becomes softened and more prone to abrasion from toothbrushing.

Metal–Organic Frameworks for Gaseous Pollutant Management: From Capture to Neutralization and Reutilization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review maps how MOFs can manage hazardous gases by combining adsorption, neutralization, and reutilization, enabling sustainable air‐pollution control. Covering chemical warfare agent simulants, SO2, NOx, NH3, H2S, and volatile organic compounds, it highlights structure‐guided strategies that boost selectivity, water tolerance, and cycling ...

Determination of Hydro-Erosion Wear Coefficient for Sealing Elements of Pipeline Fittings

open access: yesEnergy Engineering and Control Systems, 2018
A model of hydro-erosion wear of sealing elements was constructed taking into account a set of parameters that reflect the physical properties of the fluid and the material of the sealing elements, as well as the design parameters of the valves.

Dry sliding friction and wear response of WC-Co hardmetal pairs in linearly reciprocating and rotating contact [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents an experimental evaluation of friction and wear properties of WC-Co cemented carbides. A comparison is made between unlubricated rotating and linearly reciprocating pin-onplate sliding pairs. The plate specimens were WC-10wt%Co grades

A Printed Zinc‐Ion Microbattery with Extended Shelf Life and Durability for Energy Autonomous Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully printed aqueous zinc‐ion microbattery (ZnIB) enabled by graphene‐decorated zinc anode and printed MnO@NC cathode using sustainable aqueous‐based ink formulations. The printed 3D electrodes ensure uniform zinc deposition, low overpotential, and long‐term stability.

Erosion wear of materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Wear is damage to a surface as a result of relative motion with respect to another substance. One key point is that wear is damage and it is not limited to loss of material from the surface. However, loss of material is definitely one way in which a part
