An Analysis of Reduced Error Pruning

open access: yesJournal of Artificial Intelligence Research, 2001
Top-down induction of decision trees has been observed to suffer from the inadequate functioning of the pruning phase. In particular, it is known that the size of the resulting tree grows linearly with the sample size, even though the accuracy of the tree does not improve.

open access: yesNordicum-Mediterraneum, 2020
Although political errors are likely to be as old as politics itself, it is only in modern times – and I will suggest that it is only with Machiavelli – that the notion of political error clearly emerged on the background of other kinds of errors with which it has long been mingled.
