Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Loanwords for language learners: Help or hindrance?

open access: yesVocabulary Learning and Instruction, 2016
Background: Loanwords are a growing component of the Japanese language. During the past six decades, the majority of new loanwords entering the Japanese language have come from the English language. For native Japanese speaking students, loanwords are a

Error Analysis in EFL Writing Classroom

open access: yes, 2018
Identifying the EFL learners’ errors in writing has no longer been important but essential. As such, drawing the pertinent questions that what are the most common types of error committed by EFL learners in Bangladesh and what are the perceptions ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Kinematic Design of 3-URU Pure Rotational Parallel Mechanism with Consideration of Uncompensatable Error

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2008
Kinematic design of a lower-dof parallel mechanism, a 3-URU pure rotational parallel mechanism, is presented that takes into account the “uncompensatable error”.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

A Petrov–Galerkin approach for the numerical analysis of soliton and multi-soliton solutions of the Kudryashov–Sinelshchikov equation [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Optimization
This study delves into the potential polynomial and rational wave solutions of the Kudryashov–Sinelshchikov equation. This equation has multiple applications including the modeling of propagation for nonlinear waves in various physical systems.

Analysis of quantum error correction with symmetric hypergraph states

open access: yes, 2018
Graph states have been used to construct quantum error correction codes for independent errors. Hypergraph states generalize graph states, and symmetric hypergraph states have been shown to allow for the correction of correlated errors. In this paper, it

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
