Students’ Difficulties in Changing Active Voice into Passive Voice in Simple Present Tense and Simple Past Tense

open access: yesELT Forum: Journal of English Language Teaching, 2018
This study attempted to identify the kind of students’ difficulties in changing active voice into passive voice in simple present tense and simple past tense, and the cause of difficulties in changing active voice into passive voice in simple past tense ...

ERRORS IN RILEY ANALYSIS

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 1972
SUMMARY The effect of random perturbations on the data used to calculate dead space/tidal volume ratio (Vd/Vt ratio) and percentage physiological shunt (Qs/Qt ratio) is examined. With a coefficient of variation of 1%, such random errors cause a true calculated Vd/Vt ratio of about 40% to lie within the range 38% to 43% (mean 40.5%, SD 0.8%), and a ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Measurement error in time-series analysis: a simulation study comparing modelled and monitored data. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BACKGROUND: Assessing health effects from background exposure to air pollution is often hampered by the sparseness of pollution monitoring networks. However, regional atmospheric chemistry-transport models (CTMs) can provide pollution data with national ...

Fabrication Error Modeling and Analysis of an E-Band MHMIC Balanced Power Detector

open access: yesIEEE Access
This study models and analyses the fabrication errors of an ultra-wideband (UWB) Schottky diode power detector using miniature hybrid-microwave integrated-circuit (MHMIC) technology.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A priori error analysis of two force-based atomistic/continuum models of a periodic chain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The force-based quasicontinuum (QCF) approximation is a non-conservative atomistic/continuum hybrid model for the simulation of defects in crystals. We present an a priori error analysis of the QCF method, applied to a one-dimensional periodic chain ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Projected slabs: approximation of perspective projection and error analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Virtual endoscopy is a promising medical application for volume-rendering techniques where perspective projection is mandatory. Most of the acceleration techniques for direct volume rendering use parallel projection.
