Error Bounds for Perturbing Nonexponential Queues
Mathematics of Operations Research, 2004A general framework is provided to derive analytic error bounds for the effect of perturbations and inaccuracies of nonexponential service or arrival distributions in single- and multiserver queues. The general framework is worked out in detail for the three types of finite or infinite buffer queues: GI/G/1/N, M/G/c/N, and GI/M/c/N.

Interval Arithmetic Error-Bounding Algorithms
SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1975This paper first exposes some of the defects in the interval arithmetic algorithms of Moore and Kruckeberg. Then it identifies classes of problems on which these algorithms compute “optimum bounds”.

Error-bounded compatible remeshing
ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2020We present a novel method to construct compatible surface meshes with bounded approximation errors. Given two oriented and topologically equivalent surfaces and a sparse set of corresponding landmarks, our method contains two steps: (1) generate compatible meshes with bounded approximation errors and (2) reduce mesh complexity while ensuring that ...

Error Bounds for Convex Polynomials
SIAM Journal on Optimization, 2009In this paper, the author establishes new properties of convex multivariate polynomials, using convex analysis. The author shows that for a convex polynomial \(f\) which is not constant on any affine subspace, if the lower level set of \(f\) (i.e., the set where \(f\) is nonpositive) is unbounded, then \(f\) can be represented as a sum of a convex ...

Error Bounds for Quadratic Systems
2000In this paper we consider the problem of estimating the distance from a given point to the solution set of a quadratic inequality system. We show, among other things, that a local error bound of order 1/2 holds for a system defined by linear inequalities and a single (nonconvex) quadratic equality.

Bounded error adaptive control
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1980Identification and control when plant output is corrupted with disturbance and when plant parameters vary with time are considered. It is shown how the error model can be described by a non-homogeneous differential equation. Subject to bounded disturbance and parameter variation and sufficiently rich input the parameter error vector remains bounded and

Asymptotic Approximations and Error Bounds
SIAM Review, 1980The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that well-constructed error bounds for asymptotic approximations can provide useful analytical insight into the nature and reliability of the approximati...

Upper Error Bound Selection in Bounded Parameter Estimation
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1994Abstract The problem of upper error bound selection in bounded parameter estimation for models linear-in-the-parameters is considered. It is shown that this selection implies a trade-off between posterior parametric and nonparametric uncertainty. A minimum uncertainty description of the model behaviour is obtained from min-max parameter estimation ...
