Spectral error characterization and database development

Proceedings of IGARSS '94 - 1994 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2002
The authors are utilizing existing data as well as additional materials characterization to provide high resolution spectra and error statistics for a wide range of engineered and natural materials. Important aspects of the authors' methodology involve determining the variability of these measurements between samples and among different samples ...

Characterization of pairwise and multiple sequence alignment errors

Gene, 2009
We characterize pairwise and multiple sequence alignment (MSA) errors by comparing true alignments from simulations of sequence evolution with reconstructed alignments. The vast majority of reconstructed alignments contain many errors. Error rates rapidly increase with sequence divergence, thus, for even intermediate degrees of sequence divergence ...

Statistical characterization of error sequences and its applications to error control

Proceedings of Digital Processing Applications (TENCON '96), 2002
Average bit error rate is not a satisfactory descriptive feature for code evaluation, because it cannot precisely distinguish between the random and bursty natures inherent in error occurrences. In this paper we report new results of exploiting the statistical characterization of error sequences in the design of error control for mobile radio ...

Error-event characterization on partial-response channels

Proceedings of IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 1999
Summary: Two algorithms for characterization of input error events producing specified distance at the output of certain binary-input partial-response (PR) channels are presented. Lists of error events are tabulated for PR channels of interest in digital recording.

Characterization of linux kernel behavior under errors

2003 International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks, 2003. Proceedings., 2004
This paper describes an experimental study of Linux kernel behavior in the presence of errors that impact the instruction stream of the kernel code. Extensive error injection experiments including over 35,000 errors are conducted targeting the most fre- quently used functions in the selected kernel subsystems.

Stepped frequency microwave radiometer retrieval error characterization

2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017
The Stepped Frequency Microwave Radiometer (SFMR) is an instrument flown on research and reconnaissance aircraft through tropical and extratropical cyclones providing rain rate and surface wind speed estimates. Errors have been observed with the retrievals from SFMR, especially in extratropical cyclones over cold water, when compared with other sensors.

Characterizing Microarchitecture Soft Error Vulnerability Phase Behavior

14th IEEE International Symposium on Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation, 2006
Computer systems increasingly depend on exploiting program dynamic behavior to optimize performance, power and reliability. Prior studies have shown that program execution exhibits phase behavior in both performance and power domains. Reliabilityoriented program phase behavior, however, remains largely unexplored.

Reducing RF Distance Error by Characterizing Multipath

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2019
This paper explores the ability of the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) versus frequency pattern (the RSSI signature) to reliably quantify the effect of environmental multipath on RSSI-derived distance measurements for passive ultrahigh frequency systems. Radar technology has demonstrated the use of frequency information for range measurements,

Topographic characterization for DEM error modelling

2009
Digital Elevation Models have been in use for more than three decades and have become a major component of geographic information processing. The intensive use of DEMs has given rise to many accuracy investigations. The accuracy estimate is usually given in a form of a global measure such as root-mean-square error (RMSE), mostly from a producer's point
