On Zero-Error Source Coding with Feedback [PDF]
We consider the problem of zero error source coding with limited feedback when side information is present at the receiver. First, we derive an achievable rate region for arbitrary joint distributions on the source and the side information.

On systematic errors in characterizing chaos
We experimentally examined the recent prediction [1] that low pass filtering of a chaotic signal can lead to significant overestimation of the dimension of the attractor. We used signals from an electronic circuit simulating the behaviour of a chaotic hybrid optical device [2], thus the experimental restraints of small data sets and low bit resolution ...

Random Weighting, Strong Tracking, and Unscented Kalman Filter for Soft Tissue Characterization
This paper presents a new nonlinear filtering method based on the Hunt-Crossley model for online nonlinear soft tissue characterization. This method overcomes the problem of performance degradation in the unscented Kalman filter due to contact model ...

On Robust Global Error Bounds for a Class of Uncertain Piecewise Linear Inequality Systems
This paper is concerned with the radius of robust global error bounds for an uncertain piecewise linear inequality system where the uncertain data are assumed to be in polytope uncertain sets.

Variational Bayesian algorithm for quantized compressed sensing [PDF]
Compressed sensing (CS) is on recovery of high dimensional signals from their low dimensional linear measurements under a sparsity prior and digital quantization of the measurement data is inevitable in practical implementation of CS algorithms.

Time-Reversal Routing for Dispersion Code Multiple Access (DCMA) Communications [PDF]
We present the modeling and characterization of a time-reversal routing dispersion code multiple access (TR-DCMA) system. We show that this system maintains the low complexity advantage of DCMA transceivers while offering dynamic adaptivity for practial ...

CHAMP Clock Error Characterization
The behaviour of the steered quartz clock of the ”BlackJack” GPS receiver on-board CHAMP is characterized. The receiver clock estimates from onground orbit determination and clock offsets as reported within the CHAMP navigation solution are presented, compared, and discussed. No long term trend can be detected in the first 20 months of the mission.

Characterization of quantum dynamics using quantum error correction
Characterizing noisy quantum processes is important to quantum computation and communication (QCC), since quantum systems are generally open. To date, all methods of characterization of quantum dynamics (CQD), typically implemented by quantum process ...
