Perturbative Quantum Error Correction [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2011
We derive simple necessary and sufficient conditions under which a quantum channel obtained from an arbitrary perturbation from the identity can be reversed on a given code to the lowest order in fidelity. We find the usual Knill-Laflamme conditions applied to a certain operator subspace which, for a generic perturbation, is generated by the Lindblad ...

Nonlinear Error Correction: The Case of Money Demand in the UK (1878-2000). [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper explores single-equation nonlinear error correction (NEC) models with linear and nonlinear cointegrated variables. Within the class of semiparametric NEC models, we use smoothing splines.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

Food Safety and Spinach Demand: A Generalized Error Correction Model [PDF]

open access: yes
We estimate an error correction model representing demand for leafy green vegetables but generalize the structure to allow for adjustment to one conspicuous shock. We investigate whether the adjustment rate to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA)

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Detection and correction of linear phase error for Fourier transform spectrometer using phase correction method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Idealy, an interferogram is an even function of the path differences; it suffices to computer the cosine Fourier transform of the interferogram from the zero optical path to the max to produce the spectrum.

Error Correction Codes for Double Burst Errors Correction in Memories

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper addresses the issue of double burst errors occurring in memories and presents the design of corresponding error correction codes (ECC). The proposed ECCs can correct up to two burst errors simultaneously, each up to 4-bit. The errors’ positions are randomly distributed across any bit within the codeword.
