First- and Second-Order Hypothesis Testing for Mixed Memoryless Sources
The first- and second-order optimum achievable exponents in the simple hypothesis testing problem are investigated. The optimum achievable exponent for type II error probability, under the constraint that the type I error probability is allowed ...

Error scaling laws for kernel classification under source and capacity conditions
In this manuscript we consider the problem of kernel classification. While worst-case bounds on the decay rate of the prediction error with the number of samples are known for some classifiers, they often fail to accurately describe the learning curves ...

Tropical Solution of Discrete Best Approximation Problems
We consider discrete best approximation problems in the setting of tropical algebra, which is concerned with the theory and application of algebraic systems with idempotent operations. Given a set of input–output pairs of an unknown function defined on a

On stochastic stability of regional ocean models with uncertainty in wind forcing [PDF]
A shallow-water model was used to understand model error induced by non-Gaussian wind uncertainty. Although the model was simple, it described a generic system with many degrees of freedom randomized by external noise. The study focused on the nontrivial

An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Error Exponents for Entanglement Transformations From Degenerations
This paper explores the trade-off relation between the rate and the strong converse exponent for asymptotic LOCC transformations between pure multipartite states. Any single-copy probabilistic transformation between a pair of states implies that an asymptotic transformation at rate 1 is possible with an exponentially decreasing success probability ...

The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...
