Using the Photostationary State of Arylazopyrazoles to Control Phase Transitions of Liquid Crystals
A series of new arylazopyrazole photoswitches is designed as dopants for liquid crystalline materials. Unprecedented, the distribution of photoisomers at the photostationary state upon irradiation with light of specific wavelengths (365, 460, 520 nm) is used to control the liquid crystalline phase transitions under isothermal conditions, including ...

Accounting for observation noise in equation‐free forecasting: The hidden‐Markov S‐map
Ecosystems contain numerous species interacting with each other and the environment. However, data on all relevant state variables is rarely available, hampering inference and prediction.

On Error Correction in the Exponent [PDF]
Given a corrupted word w=(w1,...wn) from a Reed-Solomon code of distance d, there are many ways to efficiently find and correct its errors. But what if we are instead given $(g^{w_1},...g^{w_n})$ where g generates some large cyclic group — can the errors still be corrected efficiently? This problem is called error correction in the exponent, and though

In‐situ doping during growth of SnSe and subsequent attachment of SnS produces high‐quality lateral pn‐heterojunctions between van der Waals semiconductors. Electron beam induced current measurements demonstrate electrically active pn‐junctions, paving the way for devices that harness charge separation at lateral interfaces in layered heterostructures.

Performance of block Markov superposition transmission over non-Gaussian impulsive channels
Block Markov superposition transmission scheme was used over channels with symmetric alpha-stable (SαS) impulsive noise.Based on the equivalent genie-aided system, the lower bound of the block Markov superposition transmission system was analyzed ...

Broadband, Flexible, Skin‐Compatible Carbon Dots/Graphene Photodetectors for Wearable Applications
Broadband, flexible photodetectors integrating nitrogen‐rich carbon dots with single‐layer graphene on plastic substrates are demonstrated. A biocompatible chitosan–glycerol electrolyte enables efficient low‐voltage gating and on‐skin operation. The devices exhibit ultraviolet‐to‐near‐infrared response, mechanical robustness under bending, and verified

Critical dynamics of endogenous fluctuations predict cognitive flexibility in the Go/NoGo task
Fluctuations with power-law scaling and long-range temporal correlations (LRTCs) are characteristic to human psychophysical performance. Systems operating in a critical state exhibit such LRTCs, but phenomenologically similar fluctuations and LRTCs may ...

A novel approach for the design of functional semiconductors is presented, which utilizes the excellent optoelectronic properties of layered hybrid perovskites and the possibility to introduce a molecular photoswitch as the organic spacer. This concept is successfully demonstrated on a coumarin‐based system with the possibility to change the bandgap ...
