Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Reduction of the error floor of MSK by nonlinear frequency discriminator

open access: yes, 2003
We consider the error floor of binary frequency-shift keying (FSK) due to intersymbol interference in time-dispersive mobile radio channels, with a limiter-discriminator-integrator detector. The errors are caused by bursts in the instantaneous frequency.

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Multi-antenna diversity receiving scheme for mobile communication system in high-speed railway

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2014
Under the signal model of differential modulation and demodulation, two multi-antenna diversity receptions (linear combiner and statistic combiner) were proposed, and then the effective diversity reception scheme of train-to-ground wireless broadband ...

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Artificial Intelligence and Mental Well‐Being in Adult Education: Implications for Practice and Professional Responsibility

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mental well‐being is central to adult learner success, yet many adult education institutions lack capacity to provide timely and accessible support. This article examines how artificial intelligence (AI) can strengthen mental health–adjacent supports in adult and continuing higher education, with attention to professional practice and ...

Characteristics of floor failure under the double action of mining and hidden faults

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2021
Aiming at the problem of frequent occurrence of floor water damage under the condition that the floor has hidden faults, two methods of comprehensive numerical calculation and on-site measurement are used to explore the characteristics of floor rock mass

A genetic algorithm for designing constellations with low error floors [PDF]

open access: yes2008 42nd Annual Conference on Information Sciences and Systems, 2008
The error floor of bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding (BICM-ID) can be minimized for a particular constellation by maximizing the harmonic mean of the squared-Euclidian distances of signals whose labels differ in just one bit position.
