A Robust and Efficient Detection Algorithm for The Photon-Counting Free-Space Optical System
We propose a Viterbi-type trellis-search algorithm to implement the FSO photon-counting sequence receiver proposed in [1] more efficiently and a selective-store strategy to overcome the error floor problem observed therein.Comment: 3 ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Signal detection for orthogonal space-time block coding over time-selective fading channels: A PIC approach for the G(i) systems [PDF]
One major assumption in all orthogonal space-time block coding (O-STBC) schemes is that the channel remains static over the entire length of the codeword.

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Improved and efficient EM channel estimation algorithm for MIMO-OFDM systems
For multiple-input multiple-output with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(MIMO-OFDM) systems, the error floor(EF) phenomenon at high signal noise rate(SNR) was induced by the expectation maximum(EM) channel estimation algorithm. In addition, the ...

Absorbing Set Analysis and Design of LDPC Codes from Transversal Designs over the AWGN Channel [PDF]
In this paper we construct low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes from transversal designs with low error-floors over the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. The constructed codes are based on transversal designs that arise from sets of mutually

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

We propose a technique to design finite-length irregular low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes over the binary-input additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel with good performance in both the waterfall and the error floor region.
