Pilot Error and Error Recovery
2014Three pilot error mechanisms have been presented from the analysis of aviation accidents and the limit of pilot performance. The three mechanisms are speed limited, learned carelessness, and cognitive locked which is all validated through experiments. The essential causes for the three errors are the capability limit, human cognitive inertia, and the ...

We present a practical, language independent mechanism for error recovery in LR parsers. The method is easy to implement in existing parser generators. It uses only the normal parse tables and a small amount of symbol cost information. It is possible to use compressed parse tables with the method, as well as other LR augmentations such as precedence ...

Error recovery in JPEG2000 image transmission
2001 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37221), 2002In this paper, the problem of bit-errors recovery in JPEG2000 images transmission is addressed, with particular attention to errors in the high-frequency components. In the HL and LH sub-bands, differently from the LL band, interpolation based recovering results tend to be often ineffective when more than a few adjacent wavelet coefficients are missing.

Error recovery through partial value similarity
2016 IEEE International Symposium on Defect and Fault Tolerance in VLSI and Nanotechnology Systems (DFT), 2016Soft errors arose as a critical problem for microprocessor designers due to shrinking feature sizes and increasing clock rates. Many attempts appeared to protect the register file which is the main storage component in modern microprocessors. Exploiting existing replica values in the register file is a recently proposed method to correct errors that ...

Error recovery in a hospital pharmacy
Ergonomics, 2006A field study was performed in a hospital pharmacy aimed at identifying positive and negative influences on the process of detection of and further recovery from initial errors or other failures, thus avoiding negative consequences. Confidential reports and follow-up interviews provided data on 31 near-miss incidents involving such recovery processes ...

Superconvergent recovery based error estimators
Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 1999In this paper use is made of the superconvergence property of the recovered derivatives of piecewise linear finite element solutions of Poisson problems to construct efficient and simple to use error estimators which have the desired property of being asymptotically exact on structured triangulations.

Planner based error recovery testing
Proceedings 11th International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering. ISSRE 2000, 2002Error recovery testing is an important part of software testing, especially for safety-critical systems. We show how an AI planning system and the concepts of mutation testing can be combined to generate error recovery tests for software. We identify a set of mutation operations on the representation that the planner uses when generating test cases ...

Noncorrecting syntax error recovery
ACM Transactions on Programming Languages and Systems, 1985A parser must be able to continue parsing after encountering a syntactic error to check the remainder of the input. To achieve this, it is not necessary to perform corrections on either the input text or the stack contents. A formal framework is provided in which noncorrecting syntax error recovery concepts are defined and investigated.

AbstractFollow set error recovery is a popular technique, implemented as part of a recursive descent parser, for recovering from syntax errors by editing the input string at the point of error detection. A formal description shows that follow set error recovery is, in actual fact, a family of similar techniques differing according to how follow set is ...

Compilation for Error Recovery
2016In this chapter, we are interested in fault-tolerance against transient faults, which occur during the execution of the application, see Sect. 3.3 for a discussion on transient faults and how they can be detected. Biochemical applications are executed based on the electrode actuation sequence, which is produced in the compilation task, see Chap. 5 When
