An efficient algorithm for simulating error vector magnitude in nonlinear OFDM amplifiers
Proceedings of the IEEE 2004 Custom Integrated Circuits Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37571), 2004We have developed an algorithm for evaluating the error vector magnitude (EVM) from the single-tone distortion of power amplifiers in orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The developed formulas allow us to simulate EVM using only the single-tone response i.e. without modulation and demodulation; this enables us to easily calculate

Collision detection in IEEE 802.11 networks by error vector magnitude analysis
2012 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2012There are two causes of packet losses during a wireless transmission: losses caused by collisions and losses caused by poor channel conditions. The throughput and spatial reuse of IEEE 802.11 based wireless networks, as well as the effectiveness of the rate adaptation algorithms they use, is adversely affected by their inability to determine the real ...

On full-duplex link performance under consideration of error vector magnitude
2014 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2014The effect of Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) to the performance of a full-duplex bi-directional link is studied. EVM is modelled as independent Gaussian noise, which is sent together with the original signal by the transmitter. A simplified self-interference cancellation model at the full-duplex receiver is considered. It suppresses the self-interference

Built-in Self Test for Error Vector Magnitude measurement of RF transceiver
2009 International Test Conference, 2009In Wireless systems, the overall quality of transmission and reception is determined by various baseband and RF system specifications. The Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) is a measure of the digital modulation quality of the wireless system-under-test which is very sensitive to much impairment in the transceiver. However the EVM test takes a long time and

Enhanced error vector magnitude (EVM) measurements for testing WLAN transceivers
Proceedings of the 2006 IEEE/ACM international conference on Computer-aided design - ICCAD '06, 2006As wireless LAN devices become more prevalent in the consumer electronics market, there is an ever increasing pressure to reduce their overall cost. The test cost of such devices is an appreciable percentage of the overall cost, which typically results from the high number of specifications, the high number of distinct test set-ups and equipment pieces

Traceable measurement of Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) in WCDMA signals
2007 International Waveform Diversity and Design Conference, 2007This is the first report of a methodology to provide national standards traceability for EVM measurement of WCDMA RF sources using waveform metrology techniques. The method uses sampling oscilloscopes or real-time digital oscilloscopes. Preliminary results indicate that the rms uncertainty of the modulation waveform, at 95% confidence, is less than 0.3

A novel measurement of error vector magnitude for TD-LTE termination
2012 5th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, 2012With the appearance of Time Division-Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) standard in succession, investigation and measurement of TD-LTE termination performance has been a distinctive bottleneck in the process of its development. So it is a great practical significance to research of TD-LTE termination testing instrument with integrated testing function of RF,

Error Vector Magnitude Measurement On Cascaded Butler Matrices System
2007 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference, 2007This paper describes error vector magnitude (EVM) measurement on vehicle communication system that employs low noise amplifiers (LNAs) and cascading Butler Matrices in producing broad beam high linearity and high gain narrow beam system. The output signals from the first Butler Matrix that have high gain and narrow beam width can be used for long ...
