Forecasting an eruption [PDF]

open access: yesNature Geoscience, 2008
Florent Brenguier, Valerie Ferrazzini and their colleagues braved tropical cyclones and crater collapses while recording continuous seismological data on the Piton de la Foumaise volcano.

Eruptive syringomas

open access: yesDermatology Online Journal, 2005
Eruptive syringoma is a rare clinical presentation of a benign tumor of the eccrine ducts. It consists in successive crops of small skin-colored papules on the anterior body surfaces. It generally occurs in the peri-pubertal period. Treatment of this benign condition is cosmetic only.

The Behavior of Novae Light Curves Before Eruption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In 1975, E. R. Robinson conducted the hallmark study of the behavior of classical nova light curves before eruption, and this work has now become part of the standard knowledge of novae.

Magma volume, volatile emissions, and stratospheric aerosols from the 1815 eruption of Tambora [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We suggest that the Tambora 1815 eruption was smaller than previously thought, yielding 30–33 km3 of magma. Valuable insight into the eruption is gained by comparing it to the much smaller 1991 Pinatubo event, which had a similar eruption style and rate.

An episodic eruption [PDF]

open access: yesPostgraduate Medical Journal, 2002
Answers on p 252. A 72 year old woman presented with a fleeting rash, lasting several days at a time, on both thighs and lower trunk, over a four month period (fig 1). The eruption was non-pruritic and non-palpable, and occurred on different parts of the legs at …

Prominence Eruptions [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1998
AbstractThe kinematics and dynamics of prominence eruptions are reviewed and different phases of the eruption are identified. The properties of the equation of motion in these phases are shown. The morphology of the prominence prior and during the eruption is described and the implications to the MHD description of the process are discussed.

The impact of the 1783-1784 AD Laki eruption on global aerosol formation processes and cloud condensation nuclei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The 1783–1784 AD Laki flood lava eruption commenced on 8 June 1783 and released 122 Tg of sulphur dioxide gas over the course of 8 months into the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere above Iceland. Previous studies have examined the impact of the

Discovery of the 2010 Eruption and the Pre-Eruption Light Curve for Recurrent Nova U Scorpii [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We report the discovery by B. G. Harris and S. Dvorak on JD 2455224.9385 (2010 Jan 28.4385 UT) of the predicted eruption of the recurrent nova U Scorpii (U Sco).

Ice core evidence for a second volcanic eruption around 1809 in the Northern Hemisphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A volcanic signal observed in ice cores from both polar regions six years prior to Tambora is attributed to an unknown tropical eruption in 1809. Recovery of dacitic tephra from the 1809 horizon in a Yukon ice core (Eclipse) that is chemically distinct ...
