Properties of a Coronal Shock Wave as A Driver of Early SEP Acceleration
Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are thought to drive collisionless shocks in the solar corona, which in turn have been shown capable of accelerating solar energetic particles (SEPs) in minutes. It has been notoriously difficult to extract information about

High‐Titanium Zircon Rims in Rhyolite – A Reflection of Adiabatic Ascent?
The ascent of granitic magma from source to emplacement is rapidly achieved through dyking, resulting in negligible heat loss to the surrounding wallrock (i.e., adiabatic). Zircon growth during ascent can record the changing magma conditions including adiabatic cooling and heating, resulting in high titanium rims on low titanium cores without ...

The relationship between cellular protein content and selenium accumulation in freshwater microalgae
Abstract Variability in the bioconcentration of selenium (Se) by primary producers at the base of the food web results in uncertainty in predictions of bioaccumulation and ecological risk to higher trophic level organisms. Water chemistry, speciation of Se, and periphyton community composition have all been suggested as factors that contribute to ...

Forecasting volcanic eruptions from seismic data [PDF]
An increase in cumulative seismic strain release from volcanic earthquakes prior to eruptions of Bezymyanniy Volcano in 1955–1961 and Sheveluch Volcano in 1964 in Kamchatka, and of Tokachi-dake Volcano on Hokkaido Island in 1962 occurred in accordance with a hyperbolic law. The relationship obtained may be universal for andesite volcanoes.

The Impact of a Buyer's Incentives and Organizational Structure on Suppliers' Quality
ABSTRACT Changes in a buyer organization's incentives and structure can have a significant impact on supply chain performance, such as the quality of sourced components. We examine this relationship using data from a unique quasi‐experiment where one of the two plants of a buyer introduced long‐term quality improvement incentives and a more organic ...

Stad Slide: Preconditioning and failure of one of the world's largest megaslides
ABSTRACT Submarine landslides can generate tsunamis and pose risks to underwater infrastructure, but a lack of direct observations of such slides hinders our understanding of their development and hazard potential. Studying the morphology of past slides can offer insights into their preconditioning and failure.

Multiwavelength observations of a partially eruptive filament on 2011 September 8
In this paper, we report our multiwavelength observations of a partial filament eruption event in NOAA active region 11283 on 2011 September 8. A magnetic null point and the corresponding spine and separatrix surface are found in the active region ...
